How The Pandemic Has Changed Our Approach To Cosmetic Treatments

The cosmetic surgery industry has been growing steadily for some time. Many of us are putting ourselves out in the world much more often be it through social media, online businesses, or in the growing industries of influencers and content creators. However, many in the industry are noting a veritable boom as of late, and it can be largely tied to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are a few reasons surgeons attribute to the boom. Given that a lot of us are spending more time physically isolating (or at least were a year or so ago), a lot of our physical appearances are being done online rather than in person. Many of us have started getting into Zoom calls more often and there has been a noted rise of “Zoom dysmorphia.” a dissatisfaction with how we look on camera when we can see ourselves live. Furthermore, our habits are changing, with cosmetic treatments being used to mitigate reduced fitness and increased food eating. People are spending less in the pandemic, so might have more to spend on treatments, while also having more time at home to recover.

As such, we’ve seen an increased rate of people getting treatments that affect the face, such as face-lifts and double-chin corrections, as well as those commonly used to treat weight problems, such as liposuction and tummy tucks.

To learn more about the ways that the pandemic has changed not just how many of us are turning to cosmetic treatments, but also the ways that we’re using it, check out the below infographic.
