Combating Common Hair Problems Naturally

Relaxing, coloring, straightening and smoothening are standard procedures for millennial women. After each of these processes, the hair ends up looking smooth, shiny and lush for a few weeks. Very soon hair starts showing damage from the harsh chemicals and the direct sunlight. Since many are right now suffering from similar problems, here’s a list of things you can do to help your hair regain its natural shine and great health –

Use butter

Butter is not just good on toast. You can massage in butter for an instant gloss. Remember to use only tiny bits of dry and brittle hair. Massage the butter into your scalp and dry hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave it on for about 20-30 minutes. Use your regular shampoo and do not blow dry.

Use olive oil for conditioning

Olive oil is all natural and light. Warm up about half a cup of olive oil and rub it in. Put your shower cap on for about 45 minutes and then use your regular mild shampoo to rinse it thoroughly. Do not blow dry and use your daily hair soil serum to lock the moisture in.

Try the apple cider vinegar mask

Limp and damaged hair cries for some apple cider nourishment. Mix 1 teaspoon of the vinegar with two tablespoons of olive oil and three egg whites. While the olive oil provides the hydration, the egg whites contain fresh protein to your hair for nourishment. Cover your hair with a shower cap for 20-30 minutes. Rinse using shampoo as usual.

Botanical oils are great

Look for jojoba, olive, sweet almond and Moroccan oils at your local food store. They have magical rejuvenating properties that work on all kinds of hair. If you have thick hair, try to mix these with coconut oil with added moisture. Apply the mix (or any oil as per your choice) on damp hair and cover with a shower cap. Wrap a warm towel on the cap for about 30 minutes. Rinse and shampoo as usual.

Amazing avocado works

Find a ripe avocado and mash it. Mix it with one egg (do not whip too hard). Apply the mixture to wet hair and leave it for at least 20 minutes. The mix contains lots of proteins and essential fatty acids that help to restore the moisture and luster to your limp, damaged hair. Wash off with shampoo. You can try this once a week if your hair is severely damaged.

Just applying oils, serums and nourishment packs may not be enough if you are not taking proper care of your hair while drying. Do not rub, tug or brush wet hair. Wrap it in a towel to let it dry gently. Do not forget to condition your hair before you go for a swim, and do not forget to wash it once you are out. You can try washing your hair with tea extract after a swim to restore lost oil and moisture immediately.

Taking care of your hair is a big responsibility. A couple of these healthy practices will help restore the volume, shine, and health much faster.
