Whether they’re big or small, natural or “augmented,” a pain or a pleasure…  every woman has breasts.  Thus, everyone woman needs bras.  I find that fact to be endlessly daunting, as I can almost never find bras that fit correctly, are comfortable, and flatter me – certainly not all three qualities in one bra.  And while regular bras are a pain, I have even more trouble with sports bras.  They’re too tight, they’re too hot, they’re unflattering, they’re unstylish…  I’m a gal with many complaints.

When Kalyx emailed me and asked if I wanted to do a review (and giveaway!) I was really excited.  As I’ve mentioned, quite often by now, I’ve been exercising a lot over the past two or so months.  Wearing my regular bras is absolutely out of the question, as padding and under wire really doesn’t make for a comfortable workout experience.  I have a few sports bras, but none of them quite do the trick.

Kalyx sent me three bras:  the Kickstart, the Centered, and the Extremist (pictured above).  They’re also sending me the DD Diva, but I haven’t received it yet – so I’ll be reviewing it separately.

I am hands down, without a question, in love with these bras.  The Kickstart style is a tiny bit snug, but that’s only because I wasn’t sure what size to get.  That’s the only issue I’ve had – and again, it has nothing to do with the bras themselves!  That being said, I think they’re all great for different types of exercise and different needs – which is why they’re broken into categories (Elite, Enlightened, Extreme).  I love the Extremist for walking, as a lot of boob bounce can make the experience uncomfortable and thus unenjoyable.  There is a tiny bit of “uni-boob” going on, but since I’m sweating and wearing crappy clothes, it’s not like men are knocking me over for my phone number at that point anyway!  It’s very secure and

The Centered style is perfect for yoga, and it’s actually a really sexy bra.  I love the support, the low v, and the sort of “wrap” style in the front.  It’s the type of bra that you can wear in the summer when you need something breathable, and not have that typical “sports bra” look under your shirt.  The racer back style also means it’s compatible with a lot of, er, skimpier summer clothing.

The Kickstart is the style that’s snug, so I’ve been waiting ’til I lose a bit more weight to really wear mine.  It’s very cute and I like the thin straps, which are a more unusual feature in sports bras.  It’s recommended for yoga, pilates, and outdoor activities – and just from the shape and construction, I agree.

Beyond the fit and style, Kalyx bras have other great qualities.  They’re partially constructed with recycled materials, which means they’re relatively eco-friendly.  Also, they come in gorgeous colors!  If plain black or white is your thing, Kalyx has you covered…  But if you’re more like me and love purples, greens, reds, etc – they’ve got that too!  Some of the bras also have awesome contrasting liners (for example, the black Centered has a fabulous red lining).
