The Fashionable Housewife
Corset tops are no longer just a piece of 19th century fashion history. They are back, and making a big impression by providing the much desired hour-glass figure look that only countless time in the gym and plastic surgery could create!
There are many different types of corsets. There are some things to consider before shopping for one. First of all – the boning of the corset. Some have a light-weight plastic boning. These are the most common now-a-days, and also the most economical. They are light-weight, and still can do a good job of creating the hour-glass figure, and pushing up the breasts for a sexy look. Then there are corsets with strong, steel boning. These are usually a lot pricier, running anywhere from $35 – $300. Some women wear them for “waist training”. As if you tighten up the laces as much as possible, and wear the corset consistently, it can have a shape shifting effect on the body. Besides the boning, there are “over-bust” corsets, which cover the breast area and are a full corset. Then there are under-bust corsets, which only cover the waist to act as “waist cinchers”. There are leather corsets, satin lined corsets, vinyl corsets.. Basically, just consider all the choices before making that purchase! For the place to go.. I have searched many websites. I find the best variety, and by far the best prices is a site called www.CorsetChick.com.
They also have many cool tutu, petticoat, Gothic, and Lolita skirts to match your corset and make a beautiful corset dress.

Levi’s new ad is out! And guess what? It is for woman of all shapes and sizes. But I only see thin girls in this ad. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a skinny girl and I am lacking in the curves department. However, I find this ad offensive and wrong.
If you are going to make an ad celebrating woman of all sizes, then at least have three different shaped models. Not all thin girls. Any of the girls could stay, but I think that their should also be a hourglass curvy girl and a plus-sized girl. But something with at least one bigger woman would be nice.
The ad should have woman of ALL sizes in it. The ad was for jeans for “all shapes”. All of the woman look the same. Another advertising fail. Way to spread a good message to teens struggling with their bodies Levi’s!!!!!

I’m known for being a fashion rebel. Technically in February you are supposed to pack away all those cute dresses RIGHT? Wrong. I keep them out and winterize them. Like so.

Like? I think this is an awesome way to get extra wear out of otherwise clothing fit for warmer weather. Isn’t this dress adorable? I love the colors. And the belt is a lovely added touch. This dress is really well made and works for all occasions.

This adorable dress is from Ruche and can I just say that I love it? It’s so girly and flirty. It will be perfect during the summer months when I have a date and need to dress up a bit or I have a special occasion. But for now it’s perfect with tights/leggings and cute boots.

I got my friend to snap this picture for me while we were outside. I love the way the dress looks under a coat. Excuse the dirty, disgusting, yucky, snow now all over the ground. That’s what I get for living in the midwest instead of California. (It’s actually snowing at the moment here! Yay!) **extreme sarcasm**
I can’t wait to put away my coat, boots, and tights and drag out my wedges, shorts, and crop tops. Oh summer, you can’t come fast enough!!
Enough about me and my nogalistic longings for warmer weather, let’s talk about Ruche for a moment shall we? I’m utterly and completely in love with this store. They ship so fast and I am so impressed with the service. I’ll be buying from them soon. The only bad thing? It’s on the pricey side, but it’s well worth it I assure you!
All the clothing is winter inspired and I can’t get over how cute the things are!
Until I pay my bills this month and can buy another dress from them, I’ll be wearing this baby all winter long.
Are you like me? Do you wear what you want during the winter or do you pack everything away?
*Ruche was nice enough to send me this dress, but I REALLY do love it and I’m totally in love with them. It’s not a load of number two*

Personally, I find that winter is SO boring. I mean its drab enough with the snow so who wants to wear dull winter clothing? However, there is a solution. I started incorporating bright accessories into my winter wardrobe and it makes all the difference! Here are my top six accessories to spice up winter!

Bright Gloves
Winter gear doesn’t have to be dull! I love these adorable red gloves from Target. At $19.99 you can also pick up another color in pink, green, and lots of other fun colors.

Boots
My favorite fashion item this winter? Boots. I own tons of boots in different styles and colors and I love each and every one of them! However, my current favorite is the Dinka boots from Naturalizer. These boots are currently on sale for $119.99 and you can’t beat a price like that!

Red Ballet Flats
So maybe this counts more of a shoe then an accessory, but I’m going to list it anyways. Red ballet flats are my top pick for this winter. They add an extra kick to every outfit and you don’t have to worry about your feet killing you in heels. Target has some extra cute ballet flats for under $50

Cute Scarves
I love scarves. They are a easy way to spice up any winter outfit and who doesn’t love a chic scarf? What I love about scarves is that they are extremely affordable. Forever21 sells some amazing scarves for under $10 you can’t beat that!

Statement Necklaces
Statement necklaces are an easy way to finish off any outfit. Pair one of these babies from Fantasy Jewelry Box with a black dress and killer heels and you have a ultra chic outfit! The necklace does all the talking for you.

Fashionable Hats
I love hats. I could own a hundred of these things. And my favorite part? If I don’t have time to wash my hair I’ll just slip one on! Forever21 is fixing my hat addiction with a ton of hats under $10. For that price you can’t go wrong!

I am SO excited for the new Josie Natori for Target collection. This collection is inspired by feminine style and Asian influence. It’s an all new East-meets-West collection that includes 37 pieces such as- bras, panties, robes, knit and woven pants, leggings, camis and chemises.

The colors are incredible and the collection is filled with feminine elements like butterflies, flowers, and pink! However, if girly items really aren’t your thing then they have a few less “frilly” items as well.

The Valentine’s Day collection (available Jan. 1 through Feb. 23, 2012) are fun, flirty, sexy, and the collection is perfect for Valentine’s Day.

This collection is just my style and I’m hoping to head to Target to pick some new lingerie and loungwear items out!
Ranging in prices from $9.99 to $34.99 the collection will be available at most Target stores and Target.com.

Winter is all about staying warm! And here are our six favorite winter trends to keep you warm all winter long. Even celebs like Katy Perry, Miranda Kerr and Kate Winslet are embracing these warm trends.
Trench Coats

Oooh la-la we love trench coats! I just got one from Forever21 and I LOVE it!
Tall boots

I love boots. I can’t get enough of them and there is nothing I enjoy better then pulling on a cute pair of booties. And it’s one of the hottest (and stylish) ways to stay warm! Shoe Dazzle has some awesome affordable options.
Layer

Layering is quite easy to do actually. It doesn’t have to be bulky! All that you need are some good layering basics that you can get from Walmart, Target, or at Forever21
Chunky Scarves

I’m dying here. I love chunky scarves more then anything else. They are oh-so cute and not to mention SO warm. And the bonus part? You can find them anywhere. Be sure to buy them this spring when they are going on sale to get extra great bargains! Affordable Scarves has some to die for scarves.
Knits

I am melting. I love knit pieces. I own a closet full of sweaters and cardis. And I love to wear a chunky sweater with skinny jeans and boots. It’s a perfect winter look. You can find lots of adorable cardi’s at Forever21
Cute Hats

I love Taylor Swift. But I love her hats even more. And you can steal her effortless look thanks to Forever21

I love my beauty products! And there are just some beauty products that a girl has to have. So here are my top choices for 2012.
For Soft Lips- Softlips Lip Balm

Lip balm addicts look out! Softlips is the best new brand of lip balm out there and it’s extremely affordable. What do you get when you blend natural ingredients, yummy flavors, and a sleek tube? Softlips!
Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara

This mascara is amazing. And it’s from Cover Girl so why wouldn’t you expect anything but the best?
Miracle Skin Transformer

Can we just say that we LOVE this product! I use it all the time on my face and it really helps my skin to look flawless and it doesn’t cake your face at all.
Dial Lotion
Nothing is better then a non-greasy, awesome smelling, cheap hand lotion. And I’m pleased to say that Dial has made the perfect hand lotion. I use this lotion all the time and it’s amazing.
Vo5 Perfect Hold Hair Spray

This is the only hair spray I really use. It doesn’t damage my hair, it holds SO well, and it smells amazing. And the bonus fact? It’s only $1.99.
Baby Phat Love Me Perfume

This perfume is my signature scent. I love it. It’s musky, fruity, floraly, and fun. Everyone comments on how amazing I smell and I love the fact that I finally found my new favorite perfume! If they discontinue this perfume I will be furious fyi….
Avon Anew Genics

Can I just say that this product is INCREDIBLE?? I’ve been using this product for almost three months and my freckles have faded so much. I am so impressed with this product!
Zoya Nail Polish

Zoya is by far the best brand of nail polish out there. With a color selection to die for and the bonus fact that it’s oh-so easy to apply and it’s all natural it wins hands down for me.
L’Occitaine Lotion

If you are looking for a natural and thicker lotion for winter then check out all of L’Occitaine’s lotions. They are all amazing and we love their Citrus one best.

There are some trends that I wish would just go away. No, I wish that they would NEVER EVER come back. And here they are…….

The Snookie Poof
Sorry Snookie fans, but I really dislike this girl. She’s loud, rude, and spazzy. I’ll take Marilyn Monroe any day over here. And the worst part? Girls all over America are imitating her cheap hairstyle. Do yourself a favor and skip the poof. Not only do guys think this hairstyle is unattractive, but you’ll also make yourself look dumb in the process.

Too short-shorts
Unless you are working out, on the beach, or you live in the Savannah there is NO excuse for wearing itsy bitsy shorts. No excuse. NONE whatsoever.

Extremely super high heels
I love me some heels but 7″ heels just make you look like a stripper or even worse, Courtney Stodden. Blech.

False eyelashes
Oh ick. It’s one thing to wear mascara and it’s another to wear false eyelashes. Not only will your man find them yucky, but they are a pain in your but to apply. Just skip them girls.

Spray tan
While we love using spray tan on our legs, we always use brands that don’t streak. (Like Sally Hansen!) Skip the spray tan unless you want to end up looking like the cast from Jersey Shore.

Jeggings/Leggings
I don’t get it. I just don’t get it. It’s one thing to wear flattering jeans, but it’s another to just outright wear super tight hooker like pants. UGHHHHHH! OMGOSH ladies please, spare yourself the embarrassing and wear a tunic with them!!

Hair extensions
Give me a break. You aren’t fooling anyone. Hair extensions are cheap. Just grow out your own hair! It looks better anyways! And we all agree that natural looks better can’t we??
What trends do you hate and want gone in 2012??

This is a much debated question in the fashion community. Are UGG’s fashionable or ugly? I’m afraid that I’m on the fence about them. Let me show you what I mean-
Trendy

Frugly (Yes, I know that is not a word!)

Ladies, UGGS are great with jeans and leggings. But please don’t EVER wear them with skirts or pj’s. They are not made for that. Thank you!
What about you? Are they cute or ugly? I’ll let you decide!
