Metamucil Tropic Fruit Smoothie Recipe

Last week at BlogHer 2010, I had the opportunity to meet some of the fab folks that work with Metamucil.  I know, I know – it’s such an… old people brand! However, Metamucil is taking steps to appeal to younger generations and get their message of how healthy and beneficial Metamucil is out to the masses!  One way they’re doing that is by coming up with fun recipes that include Metamucil, but don’t taste like Grandma’s breakfast.  Below is the recipe for Metamucil’s Tropical Fruit Smoothie, which they shared with me in their suite.  There were samples, but going up 42 floors in the jerky elevator kept me from trying any.

And yes, I know – this isn’t about lip gloss.  Metamucil didn’t pay me or bribe me to post it, and in fact, I didn’t even take any of the samples they were offering.  I just know that the people around me thought it tasted good, it’s a healthy way to get fiber – which everyone can benefit from.  Metamucil can also “help lower cholesterol, treat occasional constipation, and restore regularity.”  In my opinion, it’s hard to look great if you don’t feel it – and perhaps Metamucil can help!  Visit them online for more information, and in the meantime, enjoy the recipe below.

Metamucil Tropical Fruit Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup vanilla low-fat yogurt
  • 1/2 medium banana (peeled)
  • 1/4 cup mango juice or papaya juice
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 rounded tablespoon Metamucil Orange Smooth Texture or 1 rounded teaspoon Metamucil Smooth Texture Sugar Free
  • Crushed or cubed ice (1/2 cup)

Instructions:

1.  Blend yogurt, banana, juices, and ice until ice is crushed.

2.  Add Metamucil and blend until mixed in.  Garnish with your favorite tropical fruit!
