Top Footcare Tips You Need To Be Doing

How often do you pay attention to your feet? The bottom of your body isn’t an area most people pay attention to until there is an issue, and sadly, this neglect doesn’t bode well for your feet at all. Your feet support your body and get you around as you navigate the world—if you’re able to walk. But regardless of your physical abilities, caring for your feet should be an integral part of your self-care routine. By doing so, you can experience improved comfort, mobility, and overall well-being, making you feel much better and relaxed.

Check out these tips for improved foot care and health to give you the feet of your dreams.

Clean and Dry

It’s not just cleaning your feet; you must also dry them properly. This means between the toes so moisture doesn’t build up and cause an odor or potential fungal infection. Use a soft towel to dry between your toes for improved hygiene.

Exfoliate

You need to regularly exfoliate your feet and remove any build of problematic skin. You can use foot files to remove dead skin and build up on your feet, or you can use foot spas to soak your feet to reduce hard skin development or use repair creams and even foot exfoliating masks in your endeavors to uncover smoother, softer feet.

Massage

Your feet are under strain each day, and it is only natural for them to feel sore and tired from time to time, impacting your ability to move around freely. However, there are ways to alleviate this strain. Booking into a foot spa for foot massages or using at-home massaging tools can be a great way to relieve sore feet. Even performing Reiki, which is focused on improving health through specific points on the foot, can provide relief. These practices can help you feel more comfortable and relaxed, improving your overall well-being.

Wear The Right Shoes

Wearing the wrong shoes can massively damage your feet and cause pain, sores, bunions, and even ingrown toenails. However, you have the power to prevent these issues. By getting your feet measured in both length and width, you can determine what size shoe you need and understand how well-fitting shoes feel. This knowledge empowers you to make informed decisions when buying shoes, ensuring you avoid the wrong ones and protect your feet from potential damage.

Trim Your Nails

You should never try to shape your toenails like you would your fingernails. Toenails should always be trimmed in a straight line. Shaping or even cutting can result in nails growing in different shapes at different angles and even cause them to be ingrown, which can be extremely painful.

Moisturize

Regularly moisturizing your feet, ideally, after you wash them or get out of the shower, helps to keep them in good condition and requires you to pay attention to them, which can be great for spotting problems such as cuts, nail issues, fungal infections and hard skin. Apply a generous amount of moisturizer to your feet, focusing on the heels and the balls of your feet, and gently massage it in for better absorption and softer skin.
