Laundry Alternatives to Lessen the Impact on the Environment and Your Wallet

Nothing is more fashionable than being “green” nowadays. Many people carry around reusable coffee cups or water bottles, and store food in glass jars instead of plastic. Most people do not consider doing laundry by hand as a way to cut down on environmental (and wallet) impact.  The wonder wash uses 90% less water than a washing machine. In approximately 6 minutes the wash is finished and is put in the spin dryer. I have to wait 40 minutes (on average) for my wash to be done in a normal washing machine. Also, the dryer takes approximately 4-5 minutes to be almost completely dry. On average, I also use about 5 minutes to hang up my clothes. Even in the wintertime in my small New York City apartment, my clothes are dry in under 2 hours. In the sun, they are done in approximately 20-30 minutes. All together, my wash takes 40 minutes to 2 hours to be completely ready to wear and be folded.

I would say that the Wonder Wash has improved my quality of my life. When I lived in New York City, the amount of time and energy I would lose on a Saturday doing wash would have made my life miserable. Living in New Hampshire in an RV, the Wonder Wash has proved compact and still a great laundry alternative. In either living space, the two products did not take up productive living space. I like getting laundry done in 15 minutes (not including the time it takes to completely dry). I can set my laundry and forget it. Since my Wonder Wash uses so little water, I have also only been through about half of my bottle of laundry soap in 9 months. The Ninja Dryer drys clothes almost completely. Water is wicked out of the clothes at a speed of 1,800 RPM.

The only downside to this way of doing laundry is making sure the mostly dried clothes fully dry properly. I have a system of shaking out my clothes to avoid wrinkles. If its humid (anyone living near the coast can testify) that the clothes may take longer to dry. Sometimes, if I have to do two or more loads in the washing machine, I can get bored staring at the wall and cranking. Music or throwing on Netflix on the counter next to you helps. Do not over stuff the machine. Follow the directions in the booklet it comes with.

Laundry Alternative offers many sizes to fit your need. Please go to http://www.laundry-alternative.com/ to view their products. My Wonder Wash and Ninja Dryer have already paid for themselves.
