Isaac Mizrahi for Target: Fall

I’m a big fan of Isaac Mizrahi, and I’ve purchased more than my share of his for-Target creations. Unfortunately, I’m not really loving his latest collection. Far too many pieces featured unflattering cuts our out of season colors. However, I’ve found a few note worthy pieces… So let’s get to ’em!

While this Wide Wale Cord Miniskirt (in Ebony) has both a name and length I’m not exactly thrilled with, I think it’s a piece worth checking out! Priced at $24.99, I think that it’s a pretty adorable way to spice up the season.

Notice, ladies, that I said spice it up, not slut it up. Seriously, if you’re going to sport something this short-WEAR TIGHTS! And no, not the nude or barely there black kind… Pick something dark and daring, or warm and cable knit.

Also, please avoid the “hooker heels.” Cute flats or some of the season’s gorgeous boots will leave you looking classy, not cheap.

This Brown Plaid Jacket is another great way to wear one of the season’s biggest trends! At $49.99, it’s a little more expensive than I normally like to spend on a single Target piece…

On the other hand, the cut makes it sweet and unassuming, while the pleats and partial length button detail makes it perfect for work or play. It will work wonders with a skirt or jeans-just please don’t wearing it with the matching skirt (shown in the picture). That’s just too much brown plaid in one place!!!

This Cap Sleeve Ponte Dress (pictured in All Spice, but also available in Black) is quite possibly my favorite piece from the collection. The cut is flattering, the length is modest without being frumpy, and the polyester blend means it should be quite comfortable!

Although the model is pictured with bare legs, I think this dress would look better with tights. All it needs is a cute sweater and some pretty jewelry, and you’re set for a night (or day) out! Priced at $39.99, this dress is an affordable piece that you can get a lot of wear out of. Plus, the color fits right into the holiday palette of jewel tones!

I’m also really digging this Bellow Sleeve Sweater. Again, it’s a relatively simple piece for a slightly higher price; it retails for $34.99. However, it’s an incredibly stylish top that will work from now until the end of winter, and most likely, the fall and winter of 2009!

It’s available in a range of shades, but I really like the charcoal gray shown at left. The V-Neck is high enough that it won’t be inappropriate for work, but it shows enough skin that it will definitely take you out at night! The day-to-night theme is really evident in Mizrahi’s latest collection. At least that makes the prices a little easier to swallow!

This Corduroy Tunic is really freakin’ adorable. It reminds me of the whole “steal your boyfriend’s clothes” thing, but in a chic and equally comfortable way. The “Roman Seaport” color is also really attractive!

I’m not thrilled that it’s $44.99, but I do love that it’s a piece you can wear with bare legs and flats on a warmer day, or pair with cable knit tights boots on a cold one. In fact, this dress could probably carry you through some of the colder months of spring… Especially with a lighter wrap sweater.

As I said, I’m just not thrilled with this collection! Normally I’m bursting with must-haves when Target launches something new, but this time I had a hard time coming up with even five pieces! So, loves, save your time and money… Or just go buy something pretty at Payless!
