5 Things You Can Do To Rebuild Your Body Image

Sometimes, your perception of your body image can take a hit. You want to look and feel fantastic but there’s something psychological holding you back. 

That’s what this post is here to help with. It looks at some of the things you can do to rebuild your body image and really feel like you’re firing on all cylinders. 

Practice Self-Compassion

One of the things you’ll want to do is be more compassionate with yourself. While you might not like your body image now, that doesn’t mean that you have to beat yourself up about it. 

The trick is to be more nurturing to reduce dissatisfaction. If you can learn how to support yourself and how you feel by saying things like you “deserve” respect, then it can have massive knock-on effects. 

Challenge Your Negative Thoughts

Another thing you can do is challenge your negative thoughts. You can look at how your thinking is evolving and ask yourself whether you’re on the right track mentally. 

Sometimes, you can get stuck in a psychological rut and tell yourself the same negative things repeatedly. This brain pattern is negative and can cause tremendous harm if you leave it to run its course. However, if you can challenge those thoughts and ask yourself whether they’re really true, then you can move forward in your life. 

Invest In High-Value Changes

Another thing you could try is to invest in high-value changes to your body that could have a massive impact. For example, you could whiten your teeth or remove varicose veins. These subtle alternations don’t always cost a lot of money, but they can have a massive effect on how you perceive yourself. 

Even if the changes are cosmetic, think about how they could alter how you feel. Many of these adjustments can put you on a healthier emotional path. 

Focus On What Your Body Can Do

You could also shift your focus more onto what your body can do for you, instead of thinking about its various deficiencies and what’s wrong with it. 

One thing you could try is functional gratitude. For example, you could be grateful for the physical activities that you can complete with your body. 

The more you practice like this, the more likely you are to feel better about your situation and what you can do. Many people with bodies that they don’t want often end up in incredible situations in life, simply because they take the opportunities that lie before them. 

Surround Yourself With Positive Influences

Lastly, it makes sense to surround yourself with positive influences if you’re trying to rebuild your body image. You don’t necessarily want people who are going to bring you down, even if they think they are being frank with you. 

For example, you might want to look for people who uplift you. These individuals can support a positive body image and provide the social support you need at the same time.
