My Fall 2010 Fashion Must Haves

I’ve been so excited each time a new magazine arrives in my mailbox this month.  What thick, gorgeous, luxurious issues!  As always, there are a lot of ads – but mags like Marie Claire touted close to 300 pages, with plenty to read (and amazing eye candy).

After pouring over page after page of amazing Fall styles, I’ve narrowed down my wardrobe wishlist.  And started hitting TJ Maxx – hard.  As tempted as I am to completely overhaul my wardrobe, a la elementary school, when back to school shopping involved a total reinvention each year.  Since I’M responsible for buying my Fall wardrobe, I’m aiming to carefully mingle select summer pieces with flexible basics and a few eye catching pieces.  This means investing in just a few classic pieces that I’ll be able to wear for years to come, plus a few “trendy” selections (only when the price is right), and creative use of accessories.

So, what’s on my list?

• Khaki/beige and black slacks (FOUND!)
• Tie-waist trenchcoat in black or grey
• Button down blouses
• Mid-tone blue handbag
• Slouchy ankle boots
• Blazer (preferably black)

I’d also love to find a few simple cotton dresses and long sleeved shirts in basic colors.  My list may seem a little long…  That’s because when I moved this past February, I purged a great deal of my cold weather wardrobe, then lost enough weight to render a few more pieces unwearable.

In upcoming articles, I’m going to chronicle my search for the above pieces.  I’ve already found an amazing pair of pants that is comfortable, flattering, and affordable – so keep your eyes peeled for that!
