Somehow, on my move from Vermont to Mass., I managed to lose the box that contained EVERY SINGLE ONE of my lipsticks, glosses, balms, scrubs… You name it, I lost it. SO traumatizing!!! My broke-ass self has been trying to rebuild the collection based on hopes and wishes, but no luck. Then, Kiss My Face stepped in.
The new Sheer Organic Shimmer & Shine line is totally my new bff.
First off, they’re organic (as the name so obviously states). So that makes me happy, because as much as I love ALL lip products, I’m not such a huge fan of putting gross crap right next to my digestion-related orifice. When I want to gloss it up, I’m not exactly also hoping for a “healthy” dose of chemicals in my mouth.
Here’s an example of product info from the Opal shade (although they’re all pretty much the same):
“Sheer organic shimmers & shines contain natural mineral color, vitamins A&E to repair and protect lips and have a luscious organic flavor – mint with a hint of vanilla. All are earth friendly products containing no parabens, SLS, phthalates, synthetic colors or flavors, and use of animal ingredients or testing.
GOOD FOR YOU BECAUSE…
Organic Shea Butter: helps protect lips
Tocopherol: natural Vitamin E, nourishing, antioxidant
Organic Sunflower Oil: improves skin’s moisture retention, rich in Vitamin A&E
Sunflower Oil,* Beeswax,* Castor Oil,* Coconut Oil,* Shea Butter,* French Vanilla Flavor Oil,* Chocolate Flavor Oil,* Peppermint Oil,* Candelilla Wax, Tocopherol (non GMO), Aloe Vera,* Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides
This product contains no animal ingredients, artificial colors, or unnecessary chemicals and was not tested on animals.”
Let me draw your attention for a minute to the scent combination: Vanilla & Mint. No, I’m not pointing it out because it’s yucky… Actually, it smells exactly like mint chocolate chip ice cream. Best. Thing. Ever. Now I’m especially glad that there aren’t tons of gross chemicals in the formulation, because these babies TOTALLY make me want to lick my lips all day. Mmm…
On top of being deliciously scented and making my lips super-soft, the Shimmers and Shines are just really pretty! The color is sheer without being disappointingly underwhelming, and they also look really great over lipstick if you want some extra oomph in the mouth-region. I particularly like how light-reflective they are! Out of the six shades (Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, Ruby, Opal, and Topaz) they lovely pale pink Opal is my favorite. It actually really reminds me of MAC’s Rose Pigment, which is a total compliment!
Oh, I almost forgot: The actually gloss tubes are the Shines and the balm-like tubes are the Shimmers. I like both formulas equally, but it’s up to you whether you’re a more gloss or balm type of girl. Both are super conditioning, so it’s really all about application!
Kiss My Face Sheer Organic Shimmers retail for $4.95 and can be found in (some) drugstores, organic food stores, and the organic beauty section of your local grocery store. However, you can skip the hassle and buy them directly online here. The same is true of the Sheer Organic Shines, except for that they retail for $6.95.
I’ll be giving away a complete set of Shines and one set of Shimmers to you lucky ladies sometime next week, so stay tuned!
