My skin’s normally pretty well behaved, as I (do my best to) clean, moisturize, tone, and treat it. The problem I haven’t been able to solve, though, is how reactive it is! I can be having a perfectly good skin day, even sometimes right out of the shower, where I don’t need any makeup. All I have to do is towel dry it gently and it gets extremely red and irritated looking. No breakouts or even heat; just a blotchy redness that sends me running for the foundation.
If this sounds like your skin, get ready to make some sweet, sweet lovin’ to this post… Because it contains the answer! Ladies and gentleman, I present to you:
Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder
**Just a really quick note before I get down to business–if you have REALLY serious redness, you might want to holla at some of Clinique’s other redness-related products (Comfort on Call Relief Cream, Redness Solutions Urgent Relief Cream and Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream).**
So here’s what’s up:
” Unique mineral treatment measurably reduces redness on contact. It’s lab-certified. Under its care and cover, visible redness and broken capillaries virtually disappear-instantly and for hours. Patent-pending formula helps skin “keep its cool.” Oil-free, talc-free. With anti-bacterial brush. Appropriate for skins with mild-to-moderate Rosacea or reactive redness.” Basically, it’s like Clinique’s regular face powder, only MAGIC. And yellow. Don’t worry about the tone making your complexion look sallow; I’m printer-paper white and it didn’t give me the slightest issue. Also, it’s got some seriously red-busting ingredients that kicked the ass of any redness that reared up while I was doing my makeup.
The brush it comes with is bullshit (sorry, Clinique) BUT if you’re a good girl, you should already have a kabuki brush as part of your collection. Just tip the container upside-with lid still ON-and give it a few gentle taps. Then, carefully unscrew the lid, swirl your brush in the powder, and then buff as you would to normally set your makeup. I used it with foundation, just concealer, and on only moisturized skin. While the results were noticeable each time, I preferred it most with a little bit of concealer under the areas which become most inflamed (namely my nose).
Here’s some more information about the formula and science behind the magic dust:
-Caffeine, Magnolia Bark, Mushrooms, and Grapefruit are all included in the blend. They’re the ingredients that work to calm redness.
-Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, and Potassium help with any oiliness while gently comforting skin.
-The yellow shade was custom-created by Clinique’s chic geeks to blend into skin and neutralize redness.
-The powder IS suitable for people with Rosacea.
I love the combination of beauty and science; this seems like a new sort of “smart makeup” to me. And whatever it is, this stuff works!
