The new special occasion dress collection is available in a variety of colors, styles and sizing, perfect for special events or weddings. Every item in the collection retails for under $200, giving brides everywhere a chic and economical option for their bridesmaids.
Mother of the bride and guests alike can also rejoice as the line features minimally embellished halter and jewel-neck styles as well.
I know from the ladies in my life who have been bridesmaids, the dresses really are often horrible. And expensive. I can’t think of many fashion disasters worse than a horrible, high priced dress that you HAVE to wear once and then can never wear again. This new collection from Maggy London offers much more affordable, fashionable choices – so even if you’re dealing with a bridezilla, at least you’ll look fab doing it! Below are a few of my favorite styles.
Scarves have been my favorite accessory this summer, as they can completely make, or perfectly pull together, just about any outfit. Nepali sells beautiful scarves in a gorgeous range of styles and colors. I particularly love the Bambi Bobi Scarf Cavallari was spotted in. It’s available in eight gorgeous colors
Not many companies can boast locations in New York and Kathmandu, but it’s the only way Michelle Baldwin and Michelle Taylor-Spearman could make Nepali happen. Inspired by their frequent visits to Nepal, this duo works directly with local weavers to produce a collection of beautiful hand-made scarves, and in doing so provide women with consistent income and other schooling and health care assistance for their families. Made from natural fabrics and eco-friendly dies, how can you not love a product that’s as socially responsible as it is chic.
“A vibrant collection that mixes exotic prints from around the world with bold vintage architecture is what captivates the look of Erica Davies’ new clothing line to air on QVC June 8th at 7pm EST. Davies describes the inspiration of her unique look as “a perfect blend of the stylish 1930s coupled with the sophistication and ease of island life.” Celebrity fans already include Elisabeth Rohm, Kayla Ewell, and Kristy Swanson.
Her brilliant designs are leading the charge to a summer that is sure to be full of new striking material. Davies is beyond excited about the new summer trends to as she mentioned, “I think we are going to be seeing a lot of clean energy from clean lines and embarking on the classics with a slight twist. Less is more!”
Erica also lets us on in the five summer “must haves” in every woman’s closet. “Sexy, classic neutral heels, classic white shirts, boyfriend blazers, classic little black dresses, and silk tanks in layering pieces. But never be afraid to venture from the comfort zone with tribal and animal prints, large floral motifs and different proportions in the most unexpected ways,” she says.”
I received the dress above (in the pattern below) from QVC. In the photo above, it looks like it could be very shapeless and unflattering… I was worried that it wouldn’t look right on my curvy figure, and that the material would cling to flaws.
Fortunately, I was totally wrong. For me, this is a miracle dress. It looks fabulous and is flattering, slimming, and fitted in only all the RIGHT places. You can see from the photo below that the shape really comes out once it’s on a body, and each detail has though behind it. I love the wide straps and the slight ruching, which are great camo if your arms need a little help.
The solid colors are beautiful, but this particular pattern really has my heart. Up close it looks like a mix between brush strokes and feathers – very unique and artsy but not in an over-the-top way. The length, colors, and overall cut make this an easy piece to transition from day to night – just change your shoes and perhaps your jewelry and you’re ready to go from lunch with the girls to dinner with your date.
I can’t wait to see Erica Davies on QVC tonight! I have no doubt that her whole collection will be stunning, and I’m looking to score another dress. I’m tempted to pick up this dress in another color, too! So, don’t forget to tune in to QVC at 7 PM EST so you can shop the collection for yourself!
I love H&M – I’m endlessly bummed that we don’t have one in VT. One of highlights of going to NYC for me is hitting one up – I love the fab, in-style fashions at totally affordable prices. The video above showcases a great selection of their season products.
One of my favorite trends for Summer 2010 is the DIY Painted/Splattered Tee Trend. It’s a great opportunity to be creative, incorporate your favorite colors into your clothing, and literally have fun with fashion.
In order to try my hand at creating custom tees of my own, I did a little research into what sort of products I should use for the project. I actually stumbled across a blurb about this very topic in a fashion magazine one night and was thus introduced to Spray Paint 4 Fabric’s Simply Spray Fabric Paint. The company was nice enough to send me a few shades of their paint. It’s available in a huge range of colors, in either single bottles or complimentary sets. They also carry puff paint and upholstery paint for those of you with more creative projects.
The colors I received are Green Apple, Spring Green, Brite Pink, Caribbean Blue, and Black. I love the range of bright Spring/Summer colors that blend right into my seasonal wardrobe. I have around twenty plain white tees that I use as pajamas and lazy day clothes. Since several have been used for projects like dying my hair, I have a stack of tees with stains that need to be covered up and refashioned into something much more appealing.
A friend of mine and I got together to play with the spray paint (and drink a lot of wine) this past weekend. She had the genius idea of grabbing some flowers to use for our project, since we didn’t have any stencils. My artistic skill is relatively minimal, as you can see above – but since these are tees to hang out in the house in, they didn’t have to be perfect.
Simply Spray is very easy to use – just shake, point, and spray. The only can that really caused any trouble was the Brite Pink, which kept clogging and also turned out to be more of a pastel. (Clogs are fixed easily by rinsing the can’s nozzle.)
These photos are from the first stage of our tees. We’re going back in with sharpies and (in my case) glitter paint next week to further decorate them. While our designs are abstract and, albeit, a bitty messy – it would be a snap to make much neater looks. Simply Spray is about $5/can and can be purchased online. I highly recommend these for both personalized fashion and girl’s night fun!
New York, NY – On April 30th, actress Gwyneth Paltrow wore a pair of J Brand “901” denim leggings in viper while appearing on Good Morning America last Friday.
The leggings retail for $218 and are available for purchase online at J Brand Jeans.
I sort of feel like the jeans are the only part of Paltrow’s outfit that works – although I’m digging the booties, too. But the old lady-ish shirt and oddly buttoned jacket aren’t really doing it for me. Then again, if I were Gwyneth Paltrow, I’d be tempted to run around nude… She has an amazing body!
Expose your natural beauty with this gorgeous collection of sunkissed shades. Illuminating bronzers, creamy cheek colors and barely-there glosses create a sexy summer glow.
If you’re sick of the heavy makeup, product filled hair days of Winter… Naked Beauty has arrived just in time. I love the sun kissed, dewy, slightly messy look on the model above and can’t wait to recreate it on my own. And to see these products in person, for that matter!
For information on how to create the Smashbox Naked Beauty look at home, check out the products they used.
The collection features: Naked Beauty Photo Finish Lid Primer, Naked Beauty High Lights/Creamy Cheek Color, Naked Beauty Mini Lip Gloss Kit (8 shades), and Halo Hydrating Perfecting Bronzer. Prices start at $20 and go to $39. I’m most interested in the primer, as I love products that work hard and do double duty – but I’m really interested to check out the glosses, too.
What about you? See any must haves, or plan on passing? What other summer collections are you excited about?
New York, NY – On Saturday May 1st , actress Halle Berry wore a Riller & Fount “Pearl” sleeveless drape front mini in black while out shopping and having lunch. The dress retails for $132 and is available for purchase online at Revolve Clothing.
Halle Berry would look fantastic in a paper bag, so it’s no wonder she looks fabulous in this mini dress. I suspect that this style would be flattering on a wide variety of figures, and a great piece to have in rotation for the summer – it will pair well with a range of items.
What do you think of Halle Berry’s Riller & Fount dress? Digging her style vibes or wishing she’d go a different fashion route? Tell me in the comments!
Earlier this week I received something that brightened my day… Quite literally! Meet China Glaze’s Poolside Collection, just in time for the summer of 2010. It six fabulous neon shades in jaw dropping colors. I promptly splashed a coat on my nails and have been staring at them ever since.
Towel Boy Toy, Kiwi Coolada, Yellow Polka Dot, Flip Flop Fantasy, Pool Party (somehow I missed Sun Worshiper!)
These have a semi-matte finish… Not completely flat, but not glossy, either. The best way I can really describe these colors and the finish is that they’re like highlighters. It’s hard to photograph neons, so the actual colors are much brighter than in the picture above.
For me, Towel Boy Toy and Pool Party applied the easiest, with only three coats necessary for even coverage. Yellow Polka Dot just didn’t work for me, and I couldn’t get it to look less streaky. Patience and a few more coats may have taken care of that problem. I found them to be great polishes to dress up, and add to – as you can see, I went with some polka dots.
With the warm summer months quickly approaching, it’s all about ease, free-loving strands that stand against humidity. Below, Elie Gerdak, owner of the Elie Elie Salon in Tyson’s Corner, VA, shares what’s hot for summer 2010…
“Summer is all about healthy locks that defy humidity and thrill! Whether you’re headed to the beach or for a night out on the town, your hairstyle should emulate the upcoming trends – curls and volume!”
* Treat yourself to a hydrating masque that will infuse your locks with moisture. After days at the beach or poolside, your dried-out hair will thank you for giving it a little TLC. * Volume, volume volume! Be sure to invest in hot rollers to achieve ultimate volume and large curls. Indulging in Elie Elie’s Élixir Bouclé for fine to medium hair, No. 8will prep your hair for a volumized look. First apply a generous amount of No. 8, dry the hair, set with hot rollers, allow the roller to cool completely and then finger comb curls. SRP: $27.
