Celebs including Faith Hill, Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel McAdams, Miley Cyrus, Penelope Cruz, Zoe Saldana and Kristen Stewart all embraced this look.
To get the look at home, celebrity stylist Oscar Blandi (who created Faith’s look and has worked with Penelope and Jennifer) suggests following these steps:
Step 1 : To create this look, the base is critical. Let 70% of the hair air dry and apply Oscar Blandi Volumizing Spray from roots to end. Flip the hair upside-down and blow-dry on low mild heat.
Step 2: Secure all the hair at the nape of the neck with an elastic, using your fingers as a comb to separate the hair for a natural pulled back effect. Wrap individual hair sections around the ponytail and secure with hair pins for a undone chignon.
Step 3: Lightly pull out hair around the hairline to create a tussled loose frame around the face.
I did not write the article above – it was sent to me by the PR agency that represents Oscar Blandi. I do use Oscar Blandi products and am a big fan of them!

Recently, I was introduced to an online retailer called Cover Your Hair. The name is cute, clever, and totally explains the concept of the site – they settle everything and anything you could use that would… Well, cover your hair! Hats, pre-tied bandannas, headbands, turbans, hair clips; you name it, they carry it!
Above are some of the gorgeous pieces offered by Cover Your Hair – the hats in the center are my favorite! I love the pretty pastel colors and soft patterns. I’m also quite partial to the feather headbands and hair clips. As much as I didn’t like Kenzie from Project Runway, I always though she looked adorable with the feathers in her hair.
Cover Your Hair has amazing prices; many items are under $10. There are also many items on clearance on sale, and various specials to take advantage of (like $1 shipping). Don’t neglect accessorizing your hair – short or long, Cover Your Hair has something great for your head!
I received the Cable Winter Pull-On Chaponne with Visor ($17.99) for review. It’s available in Ivory, Lime, and Grey – of course, my obsession with green means that I picked the Lime shade. It’s a beautiful color and perfect for the transition into Spring. The hat is well made, durable, and a great addition to my head’s wardrobe.
I did find the fit to be a tad snug, so if you have a larger face or “big hair,” it may not be the most flattering style. Fortunately, there are plenty of other hats to choose from! If you have short or straight hair, this hat will be a great style for you.
Contest Info: One reader will win a box of products from Cover Your Hair worth $25. The items in it will be picked by them and and fun surprise for you!
Mandatory Entry: Check out the selection from Cover Your Hair and comment with a product you love (other than what I’ve discussed here).
Extra Entries (please leave a SEPARATE comment for EACH):

Hello! It’s Anthony from The ART and SCIENCE of [beauty] here to share some of my best tricks and tips with all you Fashionable Gals. Follow my advice and y’all will be lookin’ FIERCE! I’ll be giving you the scoop on how to really use your blowdryer to the fullest, what all those different brushes are for, and the right products to use to give you the results you want! Whether it’s super duper straight and polished OR big and bouncy with maximum volume! Either way, I’m here to help you make it happen.
So, first things first, let’s talk about…. BLOWDRYERS! You know, those things that blow out hot air, and that has all those buttons and accessories you’re not really sure what to do with? Well, let’s talk about them…Generally speaking, most blowdryers have 2 speeds: High and Medium, and 3 heat settings: Hot, Warm, and Cool. A lot of blowdryers say they have 3 speeds, and some do, but a lot of them include “Off” as a setting… lame I know. But anyways, it is actually important to have the two speeds, and to know when to use them.
High/Hot are the settings you want to use to get rid of the excess moisture in your hair. However, I do recommend towel blotting your hair as much as possible before using your blowdryer, NOT rubbing your hair back and forth with your towel. That creates DAMAGE, especially for curly haired gals–like The Fashionable Housewife! ♥
Once your hair is about 50%-60% dry, switch to the Medium/Hot or Medium/Warm setting, it’s better for your hair because the air flow isn’t so strong and hot. This is especially important if you’re using round brushes (which I’ll be covering shortly).
And finally, the mysterious Cool setting, or Cool Shot button. I am SO amazed at the number of women I’ve met that have absolutely noooo idea what the Cool setting is for, when it’s probably the most important setting on your blowdryer! The Cool setting is used to set your style! Whether you’re using a round brush, or blowing it straight you should always use your cool shot button on every section of hair you work on. HOT air creates a style, COLD air sets a style. This is also important to remember when you’re curling your hair with an iron. Tip: After you make a curl, instead of blasting it with hairspray and hoping it’ll stay, pin it up and move on. When you’re done curling your hair, lightly mist it with hairspray and take down your curls. They’ll last a lot longer this way, trust me.
With me so far? Good. Now let’s move on to the accessories that go with your blowdryer: A concentrator, a diffuser, and a pik are the most common ones, so we’ll just talk about those.
The first image is a concentrator. It’s the most commonly used blowdryer attachment, and I never use mine without it. A concentrator directs the airflow into one direction instead of just blowing out in all directions. It’s kind of like this: it’s easier to fill a water bottle using a funnel instead of just water pouring from the faucet, right? Haha, it’s the best metaphor I could come up with. Basically, the concentrator makes the air go down – that way it won’t blow against your hair and create split ends and damage. It’s also best to use it when you’re smoothing your hair with a round brush.
The second image is a diffuser. I’m sure almost every girl with curly hair knows what a diffuser is, but I’ll tell you anyways. It’s named a diffuser, because it “diffuses” the heat, instead of having it blow straight out. The diffuser works by evenly spreading the air, drying your hair while keeping your curls intact.
The third image is a pik. If a concentrator and a brush had a baby, it would look like that! =P But joking aside, the pik is used to dry and straighten your hair simultaneously. There are downsides to using a pik: It does tend to stretch your hair a bit more than like – a brush would, the teeth tend to break easily, and while your hair may get straight faster – it can make your hair kinda poofy, so you may have to follow up with a flat iron.
OK! Now that we have that out of the way, the next thing we should talk about are brushes! There are a lot of brushes out there, and it’s soooo important to know the differences and how they all work. First of all, different brushes have different types of bristles. Usually a brush will have either plastic, ceramic, or boar bristles.
Plastic brushes and combs are best used on wet hair, to de-tangle hair or style it into a certain shape.
Brushes that have ceramic bristles are good for blowdrying, because they can distribute heat and smooth the hair.
Boar bristles really are made from boar hair, did you know? They’re the best for smoothing hair and adding tons of shine and volume.
Now on to the different types of brushes:
Paddle Brush: The large, flat base of a paddle brush is perfect for blowdrying longer hair smooth. The best ones have ball-tipped nylon pins in a staggered pattern, so it doesn’t snag the hair – or boar bristles, which make straightening and smoothing hair a LOT easier!
Teasing Brush: Pretty self-explanatory. Teasing (also called ruffing) with a brush is – in my opinion – better than using a comb. You can get a lot of height and body, and the brush makes combing out much easier.
Vent Brush: Probably the most popular, and widely used brush. The vents on a vent brush speed up the drying time, and add lift at the scalp.
Metal Round Brush: This round brush has a metal base and ceramic bristles, which is better if you want more detailed curls.
Wooden Round Brush: This one is made of wood and has natural boar bristles, much better for smoothing out hair and making less of a curl and more of a wave.
Styling Brush: Also a popular choice, the styling brush is usually heat resistant and anti-static. They’re best used for blowdrying precision haircuts that don’t need much volume.
Last, but not least – styling products & blowdrying tips!
Since everyone’s hair, and their needs are SO different, I won’t be too specific about products. But I can share some of my own personal tips and tricks:
You got some big, crazy, unruly, frizz-a-licious hair?! And you want it to be smooth and sleek?! Your best bet is a smoothing product – like a balm, or serum. They really help to smooth your hair and keep the frizz down, without making it feel heavy. My personal faves are Bed Head Control Freak Serum, It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product, and Sebastian Potion 9 to name a few. You also want to use a brush with boar bristles, because they really help distribute the product and the heat to really smooth out your hair. And be sure to use your concentrator on your blowdryer! It makes such a difference!
Smoothing tip: Remember to always point your blowdryer down – it smooths the cuticle and tames frizz.
Or maybe your hair is a little on the flat side and you want big, bouncy, voluminous, Victoria’s Secret model hair? Gel, mousse, and round brushes are your best bet. Gel is the best at getting tons of volume, hold and texture in your hair. Redken Blown Away 09 is one of my favorites – tons of volume without the sticky mess of typical gel. Mousse doesn’t give a lot of hold, but it’s great for adding body and shine while keeping curls intact. Mousse actually works best when you air dry your hair. Try Sebastian Whipped Creme or Garnier Fructis Volume Inject Mousse (I’m not typically a Garnier fan, but this mousse is pretty decent!).
Volume tip: I call this the hot-roller method. Use a ceramic round brush, and as you go from section to section, right before you’re done with one section roll it up all the way into the brush and use the cool shot button to set that section. Afterwards, a lil tease and a lil hairspray and you’ll get amazing results!
Perhaps what you really want is texture and wave to your hair. Try using curl-enhancing products, thickening products, styling souffles or sea salt sprays. Use a curl-enhancing product to enhance your natural wave, and air dry or use your diffuser. Follow up with an iron if you want more curl – I suggest using Redken Spray Starch 15 with your iron, your curls will last for days. Thickening products focus more on adding fullness and texture to your hair. Catwalk Your Highness Gel Thickening Creme is great at making your hair feel full and manageable. Styling souffles are whipped styling products that make your hair feel soft and heatlhy while enhancing your natural wave. My favorite souffle that I put in my hair practically every day is S-Factor Spun Satin – it’s such a luxury item but I can’ t live without it! Other companies that make styling souffles are Alterna, Matrix Biolage, Healthy Sexy Hair, and Schwartzkopf OSiS just to name a few. Sea salt sprays give amazing texture and wave to your hair – total beach hair!
Sea salt spray tip: You definitely want to let your hair air dry when using a sea salt spray. The heat from your blowdryer makes the product dry too quickly and you won’t get the same results. Just spray it in, and while you’re waiting for it to dry just scrunch periodically, or pin random sections up for more detailed waves. My fave is KMS Hairplay Sea Salt Spray – it works great and smells like minty grapes!
Wow! All done! Wasn’t that fascinating? I thought so! Anyway, It was so much fun writing this and I hope I helped some of you with all this blowdrying info! Hopefully I’ll be able to write something else for Fashionable Media in 2010! Until then – happy blowdrying, happy new year, and take care of your hair! XOXO

“Headband design came as happenstance for Abigail Ricarte. Abigail’s story begins on a night as she was preparing to attend a friend’s birthday party and realized that she was missing one vital piece – a pretty headband to disguise her hair, as it was in an awkward “growing out” phase. Not being able to find a suitable accessory that complemented her style, she took a detour to the craft store to buy supplies to make her own headband. Eager and excited, she rushed home and ended up making a dozen one-of-a-kind headbands. She never made it to the party.”
What a sweet story! You can read more about the creation of Bambako here.
Ricarte’s creations remind me of Kenley, from last season of Project Runway. I always looked forward to seeing her kooky hair creations, even though I thought her personality was a bit of a bummer!
The Oh Hey (left) and Orchid Wave (right) are two of my faves; both feature colors that are seasonally appropriate and will add a punch to otherwise plain or boring outfits! I’m often too tired to throw on anything but a t-shirt and jeans, which isn’t particularly fashion-forward; those lazy mornings are a perfect time for Bambako! Of course, these gorgeous accessories will also totally revamp your evening look, and add flair to even the most hip outfits!
Bambako also features a “100% for the Cure” collection of beautiful Pink headbands, which benefit Susan G. Komen. Ricarte has generously donated two of these headbands, the Maria (pictured above) and Linda styles, to Fashionable Gals for a Cure! Both are included in Prize #1, which also includes a Laughing Vixen glass pendant, Scruples hair spray, and Beautifix Kit. The total value is $147.49- how fashionable!
“It’s safe, and as permanent as you want it to be. Bling Strands are tied in, so you can change them out when the mood suits. No messy tools or glue. You can care or them just like you would your own hair.
Our strands are manufactured right here in the United States. Our entire Sizzling line is guaranteed to be lead free, non-toxic and non-flammable!
Those who imitate us cannot say the same–we know because we’ve purchased their product, talked to their suppliers, and compared to make the best choice for our customers. We have clients who have tried the imitations and come back to tell us that “Bling Strands are THE BEST!”
And, there is no such thing as a Thai Silk hair shimmer–they are nylon! Beware of those who copy us–they can imitate, but they cannot bring you the quality that we can. Who wants something that looks like a piece of shiny plastic hanging in their hair?
Our packaging has been rated as the best on the market, too. No tape or oversized sleeves to deal with, and you can remove one strand at a time and then store your package until the next time you want to Bling…”
What a fun way to add that “something extra” to your look! Whether you’re feeling punk and pink or just want a little sparkle under the spotlight, Bling Strands are totally customizable to grab whatever amount of attention you’re interested in!
I love the idea of using the golds and coppers as a modern take on highlights, and the more funky colors are perfect for Halloween costumes, Holiday Spirit, School Events, parties, or a little bit of extra day-to-day fun! You can check out the Bling Strands tutorial for a step by step tutorial on how exactly to wear Bling Strands; I’d recommend having a friend on hand! If you’re not entirely confident about attaching your own Bling Strands, there’s a listing of salons across the country (and in Canada!) that carry Bling Strands, for all your Bling Needs!
A pack of 25 18″ strands is only $13.00, which makes them a lot cheaper than a normal salon pick-me-up! Bling Strands are available in the following colors: Sizzling Black, Sizzling Royal Blue, Sizzling Red, Sizzling Purple, Sizzling Fuschia, Sizzling Gold, Sizzling Champagne Gold, Sizzling Silver, Sizzling Chocolate, Sizzling Copper, Sizzling Lucky Green, Sizzling Turquoise, Sizzling Lime Green, Sizzling Lavender, Sizzling Pink Kisses.
I’m so bummed that my hair is too short to wear these- I’m all about the Sizzling Lime Green!
Of course, just because I can’t enjoy Bling Strands doesn’t mean you won’t get a chance! They’ve generously donated a set to Fashionable Gals for a Cure; look for Prize #20, which also includes a Dazzle Dry Warm Affection Nail Kit and a pair of gorgeous handmade earrings from Hot Rox Jewelry! This is a prize that will help you make a fabulous, eye catching statement no matter where you are!

It seems like every celebrity has been rocking a braid recently. Here are some examples I love…
The chick from Heroes, 1/2 the Olsen Whore Twin duo, Sarah Jessica Parker…
Name Escapes Me, Nicole Ritchie, Jessica Alba
Okay, so I’m not particularly interested in WHO is wearing them… I just think they look really cute. My hair’s not quite long enough for me to wear braids (maybe if I had someone do it for me!) but here are some great videos from Hulu for you DIY girls!
Not everyone cares about fashion and not everyone wears makeup, but one thing is for sure… everyone has HAIR! Fixing your hair is a part of your daily routine whether you like it or not. Whether you choose to throw it back in a ponytail or prep your hair for a fabulous hairdo with curlers and styling gel, you still have a “style”. If you’re looking for something new that is on par with this year’s hottest hair trends, then you’ve come to the right place!
Here at The Fashionable Housewife, we have details on each Hairstyle along with how-to’s and tips to get the best look for your face shape.
Scroll through the list of Hairstyles for Spring / Sumer 2009 below…
If losing weight isn’t on your agenda but you want to look thinner, you can actually appear slimmer, just by getting the right haircut!
“The most important factor in cutting and styling hair to appear thinner is to avoid roundness,” says celebrity hair stylist Marco Pelusi of Marco Pelusi Hair Studio in West Hollywood, Calif. Steer clear of bobs and short haircuts, which accentuate roundness. Instead, create slimming angles with deep side parts, texturized ends and layered cuts like these. Your cut should softly frame your face and neck and fall between your chin and shoulder with layers starting just under your cheekbones.
If you had a Bob in Fall 2008, then you want to go with a Cropped Bob for Spring / Summer 2009. It’s more extreme than a standard Bob cut, giving you a new look without too much fuss. It’s not quite as short as a pixie crop, but it’s definitely shorter than a Bob.
The best example of a Cropped Bob is Paris Hilton’s recent hair cut (see top right pic) as well as Katie Holmes recent hairstyles. This is a very easy style to create and maintain with little prep time in the morning. Just wash, blow dry with a round brush, lightly spritz with hair spray and you’re good to go!
In 2009, the hair trends are all about the extremes. When it comes to The Bob Hairstyle, it’s the real “play-it-safe” hair-doo for 2009. It’s the only hair cut that isn’t extreme in any one direction and it’s leftover from 2008 so you have a high risk of blending in with the crowd with a bob this spring.
So we recommend going shorter and getting a Pixie Cut. It’s a low maintenance hairstyle that is perfect for busy women, moms, and gals that just want something more interesting than a standard bob cut.
Mix it up a bit is to have your stylist cut a few fringe style bangs for you. Play with texturizing sprays and waxes for added dimension.
Textured Crop: To achieve this easy-going hairstyle, ask your stylist for choppy layers. For optimal results, have your stylist use a razor for this part. This adds texture and dimension. Wash and air-dry and finish with a styling wax to enhance the layered pieces. The volume created by the short pieces on the top of your head will add height and beautiful volume. This helps balance a round face like Mandy Moore’s.
Messy Look: You can also go for a messier look like Agyness Deyn by simply shampooing, conditioning and apply mousse while hair is still wet. Then let air-dry. When dry, add a shine wax to the ends. And to get the messy look, grab hair at the crown and pull up after applying the wax. Spray lightly with a flexible hold hair spray like Aussie Opposites Attract Extra Strong + Touchable Feel Hairspray
Pixie Cut: Rub a large blob of sculpting serum or mousse in your hands and work through your hair. Continue brushing through with a one-inch ceramic round brush pulling hair forward toward the face. Let hair air-dry. Or you can blow-dry hair forward and accentuate the pieces with styling wax.
Some of the styles highlighted above are as follows:
* Center Parted Hair
* Off Center Chignons
* Ponytails and Up-dos
* Long and Flowing
* Straight and Sleek
* Body and Waves
* Sculpted Up-dos
The best example of gorgeous long hair for Spring / Summer 2009 is Lindsay Lohan’s recent haircut. Long waves, gently tousled back and flowing around the face is just so feminine and attractive.
Conservative Bob This type of Bob is the most popular and the easiest to achieve. Have your stylist cut your hair all one length, with or without bangs. Depending on your face shape, you may want something chin length like Katie Holmes, or something a little longer, more like Jennifer Aniston. To get this look, wash your hair with volumizing shampoo and conditioner. Towel dry and apply a small amount of root-lifting mousse to damp hair and then blow dry with a hair dryer and large round brush. Finish off with a shine spray to give your hair a sleek, shiny look.
Flipped Bob This adorable version of the Bob is slightly layered and fringe style or texturized bangs. Have your stylist cut you hair so that it naturally wants to flip out instead of under. You can style your hair the same way as the bob above, but when you get to the back, flip the ends out with your large round brush, instead of encouraging it to curl under. You can use a small amount of styling wax to define pieces for a modern look.
Layered Bob Layering and side-swept bangs create this curly Bob. Encourage the natural curl in your hair during humid months with a curling shampoo and conditioner, towel dry, and follow with a generous amount of curl enhancer. Blow dry your hair with a hair dryer with a diffuser or let it dry on it’s own, all the while scrunching it to encourage the curls. Don’t mess with it too much. You want defined curls, not a firzzy mess, so don’t play with it too much. You can even use a sprial curling iron to force stubborn hairs and direct them towards your face.
No matter which Bob you pick, keep it natural looking. Healthy, shiny hair is the most important thing. Your hair style is just secondary. Remember to mention to your stylist that you want it simple and easy to manage. That’s the Bob trademark!
One of the hot hairstyles we saw on the Spring 2009 runway was off-center Chignons. These structured side buns starred at 3.1 Phillip Lim’s spring 2009 show and promise an easy, updated look that you’ll want to rock this spring.
A Chignon is just a fancy word for a bun. It’s very versatile and can be worn tight or loose for a totally feminine look. An easy hairstyle almost anyone can do, unless your hair is very short. If you do it properly, it will stay put for a long time, leaving you to worry about other more important things.
The Chignon is not a harsh “librarian” bun though. It’s softer and looser, which makes this a very feminine look. Once you know how to do it properly, you’ll be able to do it in seconds as you run out the door.
How To Make A Chignon
First put your hair in a ponytail, high or low will do. Then twist your hair, hold it like that, and wrap it around the base of your ponytail (where the elastic is). Then secure it with another elastic and a few bobby pins. We recommend getting small and large bobby pins for extra security.
Depending on the look you are going for, you can either do the initial ponytail tight, loose, or off-center. You can even spice it up a little and back-comb your hair with a little texurizing mousse and do everything loosely for a wonderfully feminine chignon.
You can even choose to use hair sticks or jewels to adorn your chignon bun with. If you are wearing this hair style for a wedding or an evening event, there are many fancy hair accessories you can use to dress it up.
Hairstylist Laurent Philippon chose a sleek center part for hair in the BCBG Spring 2009 show. This set a standard for long hair that will carry into Spring and Summer 2009. The centered part hairstyle was also seen in Gap’s Spring 2009 show.
An effortless and totally sexy hairstyle for anyone to wear. Perfect for work or evening, as it’s versatile. As long as you can tolerate your hair down and in your way, then this hairstyle shouldn’t be a problem for you at all!
How To Get The Look
Shampoo and condition hair and let towel dry for a few minutes with a Hair Turban. Then blow dry hair with a Round Brush to soften the effect of the center part so you don’t look too harsh. A slight wave to your hair will add a bit of movement and life.
Be sure to use a good quality hair dryer like FHI Heat Nano Weight pro 1800 Dryer from Bliss.com. (Using old hair dryers can burn your hair and damage it. It is wise to invest in a new one every couple years.)
Whether your hair is short or long, straight sleek styles will be a huge thing this Spring 2009. If you aren’t accustomed to using a Straightening Iron, you better get one fast!
To get sleek, straight hair, I prefer Enjoy Hair Care Products because they work the best. I’ve tried A LOT of different products over the years trying to get my frizzy mane to look straight and sexy, so I can tell you dozens of products that don’t work. There are very, very few that actually give me the look I’m going for and Enjoy Hair Care Products are one of the few companies I know of that really and truly works.
The Enjoy Shine Spray is probably my favorite product of all. I use it every single day after I style my hair. It adds just the right amount of healthy shine without looking greasy or heavy. It doesn’t make my hair dirty either. I just love it.
We saw a lot of loose curls and waves in the Spring 2009 Runway shows and now that it’s getting closer to Spring, we’re seeing several celebrities jump start this laid-back trend. Audrina Patridge is the one who really made this style a must-have for Spring though. She makes this casual hairstyle smoking hot!
Create This Look:
You’ll need a curling iron like the Conair Tourmaline Ceramic Deep Wave Iron with a 2 1/4″ barrel. Hold the curling iron so that the end is pointing downward. Wrap a small 1 inch section of your hair around the barrel of the curling iron. Do not use the clamp, because you don’t want tight curls, just waves. Leave hair wrapped around barrel for 10-20 seconds or till your hair is slightly curled.
When you hair cools off, tug at the end of each ringlet till they loosen up and look naturally curly. Start with the underneath hairs in the back until you get the hang of this technique.
Another easy way to create this look and braid hair in 2 loose braids while hair is still damp and then let it dry overnight. Carefully take it out in the morning and don’t brush it out.
The milkmaid braids trend almost made a hit in 2007 and then again in 2008, but never really took off and got really popular. It looks like this time around though, it’s going to catch on. Not only did we see this hairstyle in the Lela Rose spring 2009 show, but we’re seeing it on countless celebrities already!
This cute flirtatious and sexy hair-do is easy and versatile. This style is also perfect for getting long hair up and out of your face for summer. With the promise of warm days ahead, you can start practicing now so you’ll have this style just right for once the weather gets nice! Check out the tips below on how to perfect this cute hairstyle.
How Do I Do It?
Shampoo and condition hair as normal
Towel dry lightly and apply a smoothing anti-friz serum to help prevent too many flyaways and control frizz.
Ponytails are such a classic style. Whether you throw your hair in one just to get it off your face to do housework, or if you carefully put each hair in place for a special event, a ponytail is almost always appropriate and surprisingly very versatile!
The Ponytail
1. Shampoo and condition your hair with a straightening shampoo and conditioner like Sunsilk Straight to Perfection Straighten-Up. Let hair dry in a towel for about 10 minutes.
2. Blow-dry your hair straight with a large round brush. Make sure you completely dry the hair around the crown of your head. When you are drying that area, blow from under the roots at an upward angle using the brush. You may want to tip your head upside down to do this.
3. Apply a texturizing mousse like Pantene Pro-V Texturize! Moussing Foam Wax and run it through your hair. Avoid the roots! Push your hair back away from your face and look up as you do this. Then slip hair into a semi-snug ponytail at the nape of your neck, slightly off to one side and then bring some of your tresses over your shoulder.
The Ponytail With Braid
1. Part hair on one side with a fine tooth comb.
2. French braid from hairline to the end or as far as you can go. Be sure to spritz with a strong hold hair spray as you go along.
3. Pull hair into a loose ponytail and secure with an elastic.
4. Wrap a small amount of hair around the elastic band and secure it with a bobby pin or small clip. Spray with hair spray for extra security.
Braid Without The Ponytail
1. Part hair on one side with a fine tooth comb.
2. French braid from hairline to the end or as far as you can go. Be sure to spritz with a strong hold hair spray as you go along.
3. Secure braid with a small elastic and leave hanging or pull it under the rest of your hair near the nape of your neck and secure with a bobby pin.
4. You may choose to leave your hair straight or curly with this style. It works best with fine to medium hair. Thick hair can get complicated, esp when french braiding.
Changing your hair color is one of the easiest and most obvious ways to update or change your look for Spring 2009. It doesn’t require a long term commitment like a pixie cut or the bob.
This Spring, it looks like the color of choice will be peroxide blonde. Kate Moss really set the stage of this trend by appearing with freshly dyed peroxide blonde locks on the front cover of November’s ID magazine, thus making peroxide blonde a key hair color trend in 2009.
