Posted on: March 11, 2010 @ 9:00 am     2 Comments »

OFFICIAL INFO:

“Atari, Inc., one of the world’s most recognized brands, and The Weinstein Company, executive producers of the award-winning reality series Project Runway, announced that the Project Runway videogame, based on the mega hit-TV program, is making its way “from the runway” into retail stores.  This fashion forward title, developed by Tornado Studios, is currently available for Wii™ and PC.

A must have “accessory” for series fans; Project Runway the videogame puts players in the role of aspiring fashion designers.  Similar to the show, “designers” are presented with a range of theme challenges as they create fashions, select models, and style them with hair, make-up, and accessories.  Players can then go from designer to model and show off their creations and work their way down the runway using the Wii Balance Board™ accessory. Capturing the true essence of Project Runway, the title features the show’s key talent Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia as well as eight contestants from season six including reigning Project Runway winner Irina Shabayeva.

In addition to the core reality show competition, the Project Runway videogame for Wii™ includes a variety of fun, family friendly game features inspired by the content from the show.  These include:

  • a Wii Balance Board-compatible catwalk game
  • an interactive garment studio
  • a fashion career mode
  • hair and make-up studios
  • a high-profile fashion photo shoot”

Game trailer and contest info after the jump!

Sundance Channel Web Series: Dirty Denim

Posted on: March 06, 2010 @ 9:00 am     2 Comments »

Dirty Denim, a five-episode web-series directed by Douglas Keeve (Unzipped, Seamless), takes viewers into the extremely competitive and enormously profitable world of high-end designer denim, from conception to copying and everything in between. This unique glimpse into the denim industry is shot through the eyes of California-based designers Chip & Pepper. Dirty Denim also includes an inside look at several popular denim brands, including J Brand, Hudson Jeans, Serfontaine, Degaine and Henry Duarte.

I’m really looking forward to having a few minutes free…  So I can check this out!  It’s such an interesting concept, and I love any chance at getting a look behind the scenes.  I thought you lovely ladies might like to check the series out, so here are links to the first few episodes:

Dirty Denim Intro

Birth of Jeans (Episode 1)

The Wash (Episode 2)

Stealing (Episode 3)

The Crash (Episode 4)

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the series – if you check it out, please leave a comment!

Old Navy Launches SUPERMODELQUIN SUPER SEARCH

Posted on: February 23, 2010 @ 9:36 pm     1 Comment »

“Old Navy has just launched its first-ever nationwide Supermodelquin casting call, giving consumers across America the chance to become the next Old Navy Supermodelquin and win a $100,000 grand prize.

In the first challenge, “Pose with the Plastic Pros” (2/16-2/25), contestants prove their plastic by heading into their local Old Navy and taking a photo of themselves with the SuperModelquins and uploading it to the Super Search site (www.oldnavy.com/super). The second challenge, “Moldelquin Makeover,” (3/4-3/14) uses the power of the SuperMolder technology, allowing contestants to build their plastic match to be rated by voters. The third challenge, “Lights, Camera, Plastic” (3/21-4/1) asks contestants to build their own Old Navy commercial and deliver the hilarious punch line to prove that they have what it takes to be plastic.”

What a fun idea!  I’m sorry for not giving much head’s up for Round 1, but I just got the email – so hurry!

Lifetime Has Ruined Project Runway

Posted on: February 12, 2010 @ 12:00 pm     4 Comments »

So let’s face it:  Lifetime has ruined Project Runway.  If you’ve been watching Season 7, you know what I’m talking about.  It’s shit-tastic.  Back when the judges had brains (except for Nina Garcia, who I’m hoping to fist fight one day), sending a model down the runway with her ENTIRE ASS hanging out would get you sent home in a freakin’ hurry.  Now?  Pshhh, she’s got talent and vision – and the judges want more!  What more is there to see???  Will Season 8 feature full frontal, or do they just want Ping to saran-wrap her model, cry about it, and then win the competition?

Did anyone watch the Campbell Soup Challenge?  WHY do I even have to ask that question – how desperate is Lifetime for marketing deals that they’re willing to make the designers put a SOUP LABEL on their dresses?  My computer doesn’t have enough keys for me to fully convey my fury.  Project Runway used to be sacred to me; watching was a highly anticipated ritual.  Now I’m pissed to see it pop up on my TV guide.  Project Runway…  YOU’RE out.

Johnny Depp: GQ’s Most Stylish Man

Posted on: January 23, 2010 @ 6:00 am     2 Comments »

“Depp’s a unicorn — a really glamorous, one-of-a-kind eccentric.  He wears great man jewelry. He doesn’t shy away from color. He’s always peeking through his amazing hair. It doesn’t matter if Johnny Depp’s lying in a ditch — he’s always going to look incredible.”

-Barney Doonan

You can check out GQ’s “Most Stylish Man in the World” finalists for yourself and vote in their online poll.  Other nominees include Robert Pattinson, Tom Brady, David Beckham, Brad Pitt, and the other usual suspects.  It also features a slew of sexy men that I’ve never heard of before…  I appreciate the new eye candy.

So who’s your vote for?  Are you down with Depp, or has another man earned your support?

BLVGARI at the Golden Globes 2010

Posted on: January 19, 2010 @ 9:00 am     1 Comment »

*       Earrings from BVLGARI’s High Jewelry Collection – 18kt yellow gold and 18kt white gold earrings with two pear shaped emeralds (52.86 cts & 62.32 cts), two round brilliant cut diamonds (3.13 cts), round brilliant cut diamonds (1.05 cts) and baguette diamonds (7.85 cts)
*       Bracelet ca.1938 from BLVGARI’s Vintage Archive Collection – 18kt white gold bracelet with diamonds and emeralds
*       Trombino ring ca 1950 from BVLGARI’s Vintage Archive Collection

While I have nothing positive to say about that atrocity dress, Moore’s makeup and jewelry are absolutely gorgeous.

*       Platinum earrings, from BVLGARI’s High Jewelry Collection, with six mixed shaped diamonds (14.32 cts)
*       Platinum bracelet, from BVLGARI’s High Jewelry Collection, with fifty-four cushion cut diamonds (59.16 cts)

I wish this dress ended right before the mermaid tail, I absolutely adore the rest of the look!  Gyllenhaal gets an A from me.

*       Earrings, from BVLGARI’s High Jewelry Collection, set in 18kt white gold with round brilliant cut diamonds (10.46 cts)
*       Diamond and white gold bracelet ca. 1970,from BVLGARI’s Vintage Archive Collection.
*       18kt white gold ring, from BVLGARI’s High Jewelry Collection, with one oval cut diamond (2.51 cts), pear shaped diamonds (3.91 cts) and tapered diamonds pave (1.67cts)

Jennifer Garner sported one of my favorite Golden Globes looks; she’s pulled-together, polished, and pretty.  The sparkles definitely don’t hurt, either…

Golden Globes 2010 Fashion Coverage

Posted on: January 18, 2010 @ 4:05 pm     1 Comment »

The Golden Globes took place this past weekend – I’m sure plenty of you already know that, but honestly, I had no idea.  It’s rare that I watch an awards ceremony; I think the last one I caught involved a Lady Gaga performance, and I was only watching for the Michael Jackson tribute in the first place.  Janet Jackson did a terrible job, in my opinion, and I haven’t felt inclined to tune in for any celebrity accolades since then.  I mean, they’re lives are fabulous enough as is…  I don’t really need to see them getting trophies in million dollar dresses, too.

Of course, I do like to see what the stars are wearing now and then.  I love flipping through Best & Worst dressed lists and adding my own two cents to anyone listening.  Since Golden Globe coverage is everywhere, I won’t bore you with a thousand more pictures…  But if you’re interested, here are a few celebrities that caught my attention.

I’m a huge “Modern Family” fan, and was excited that Sofia Vergara was in attendance.  UNTIL I saw her, that is.  Vergara is an insanely gorgeous woman, and there’s no denying that.  So it must have taken some real effort to make her look…  Average.  I was actually sent the above photos from a PR company in hopes that I’d advertise how to get Vergara’s hair style, but seriously?  It looks like she rolled out of bed, through her hair in a disheveled ponytail, wrapped herself the bed covers, and sprinted to the ceremony.  Her stylist on “Modern Family” does a significantly better job, and even her clothing on the show is more appealing.  Ugh!

While I could have done without the umbrella (I know it was raining, but something smaller and …  black? would have been great!), I adore Cameron Diaz’s fabulous dress.  The neckline is so gorgeous and flattering; I like that there’s cleavage coverage behind the plunging v-neck.  The endless slew of celebrity breasts becomes tiring very fast.  Yes, you have boobs – I  know, you know, the whole damn world knows…  You can go ahead and put ‘em away now, ladies.

In any case, back to Ms. Diaz!  The coral-y red is right on point with Spring’s emerging fashion trends, but who would have expected anything less from one of Charlie’s Angels?  I’m a fan of the shoes as well.

Okay, I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA who Christina Hendricks is.  I apologize, but I can’t be bothered to find out.  All I know is it’s pretty damn ballsy to try that innocent, startled starlet face when you have ALL the goods on display.  Because what compliments ruffles?  Well, aside from apparently MORE ruffles, breasts that look like watermelons.  I suppose the plethora of ruffles is necessary to balance out the trophy shelf she’s sporting up top, but seriously?  I’d say something about the makeup, but I can’t stop looking at her boobs.

So that’s enough Golden Globes coverage for me.  There are five thousand sites currently dishing about the Best & Worst Dressed, so if you’re looking for a fix, check them out.  I’ve got to go stare at Christina’s boobs for another half our or so.

Return of Project Runway: Season 7

Posted on: December 16, 2009 @ 1:33 pm     No Comments »

pr

Project Runway Season 7 will be premiering January 14, mere weeks after the Season Finale of Season 6.  I can’t imagine that this brief reprieve has been NEARLY enough time for the producers and main players to reflect on the trainwreck that was Season 6, and create a plan of action to make sure this season doesn’t, well…  Suck.

My hope is that this time around, the judges will have something more than a VERY short term memory.  If a designer wins, wins, wins challenges- WHY would you pitch them out after making a slightly less than sexy costume?  I’ll be blunt and say that I have absolutely no use for Nina Garcia, after reading page after page of Nina-dubbed “affordable finds” that feature $1,000 monogrammed handkerchiefs, and other such BS.  I’ll never forgive her for suggesting that every woman should own a wardrobe of watches.  I’d love to give her a reality check…  Or a few swift kicks to the perfectly-coiffed head.  Just sayin’.

Want to know a secret?  Even though I’ve watched EVERY episode of Project Runway (Season 1 – 5) at least three times, I didn’t even watch the finale of Season 6.  The down-home trailer trash appeal of Althea was utterly lost on me, Irina was just too much of a bitch to root for, and Carol Hannah didn’t even vaguely intrigue me.  I would have rather seen a group of pre-schoolers craft garments out of construction paper and glitter glue to send down the runway than check out the collections from the Hot Mess Express that was the Final 3.

Since it’s already over and done with, I should probably check my bitterness and try to dredge up some hope for Season 7.  The designers have already been selected, and if nothing else, Heidi Klum will still be incredibly hot.  So there’s always that.

If I do watch, I can’t tell you yet who I’ll be rooting for.  I don’t find any of the guys aesthetically pleasing, so they better be able to make some fab dresses.  Otherwise?  I’m going to be the one who’s out.

Check out Season 7’s contestants for yourself.  Already know where you’re putting your money?
