I received a copy of The Mayo Clinic Diet – both the book and journal – for review. I was thrilled when it arrived, but disappointed that it wasn’t a diet that would work for me. That was NOT because there’s anything wrong with the plan, and it’s actually great for you ladies – as I’m going to give my copy away.

The site has a wide selection of items, which is great; I love being able to shop for everything I want without changing websites. There’s clothing, jewelry, accessories, hair products, wallets, and more. I’m particularly fond of the photos, as they include lots of “action shots” with each product! Seeing an item lying on a flat surface or on a tiny mannequin doesn’t always give a great feel for merchandise, but seeing the pieces like this really helps me see how I’d use or wear them.

Also, these prices are incredible! It’s one thing to offer a wide selection of drool-worthy merchandise, but it’s another to offer them at prices people can actually afford. All too often I spend hours picking out beautiful accessories I’d love to have, only to stop as soon as I see the total in my shopping cart. At Anique Michelle, you can afford to revamp your wardrobe without emptying your savings! Nothing on the site is priced over $60.

Recently, I was introduced to an online retailer called Cover Your Hair. The name is cute, clever, and totally explains the concept of the site – they settle everything and anything you could use that would… Well, cover your hair! Hats, pre-tied bandannas, headbands, turbans, hair clips; you name it, they carry it!

Above are some of the gorgeous pieces offered by Cover Your Hair – the hats in the center are my favorite! I love the pretty pastel colors and soft patterns. I’m also quite partial to the feather headbands and hair clips. As much as I didn’t like Kenzie from Project Runway, I always though she looked adorable with the feathers in her hair.

Cover Your Hair has amazing prices; many items are under $10. There are also many items on clearance on sale, and various specials to take advantage of (like $1 shipping). Don’t neglect accessorizing your hair – short or long, Cover Your Hair has something great for your head!

I received the Cable Winter Pull-On Chaponne with Visor ($17.99) for review. It’s available in Ivory, Lime, and Grey – of course, my obsession with green means that I picked the Lime shade. It’s a beautiful color and perfect for the transition into Spring. The hat is well made, durable, and a great addition to my head’s wardrobe.

I did find the fit to be a tad snug, so if you have a larger face or “big hair,” it may not be the most flattering style. Fortunately, there are plenty of other hats to choose from! If you have short or straight hair, this hat will be a great style for you.

Zoya Reverie for Spring 2010 | Review & Giveaway

I can’t contain my excitement as I write this post… I’m just too thrilled! Since I was a little girl, finding my name on ANYTHING – you know, pencils, barrettes, pins, mugs, bells… I could never find “Laney” on anything. It was wildly disappointing, and I still feel compelled to check “name products” whenever I see them in the store. Of course, I still have no luck.

So when Zoya emailed me about their Spring 2010 Reverie collection, I wasn’t expecting what I found. Granted, all of their polishes are girl’s names – and often times their unusual names – but still, years of childhood disappointment didn’t prepare me for what was coming next.

Zoya’s Reverie collection includes a polish called Laney, and it’s actually named AFTER ME! Don’t laugh at me for the amount of joy this has brought me; unless you have a name you can never find and no one can ever spell, you just won’t understand.

For reasons beyond me, Zoya’s new collection isn’t just about me… Even though I totally think it should be. But no, there are five new polishes along with Laney, and really I can’t complain because they’re all just as rockin’. And some more lucky ladies will now be able to find their names in the store, even if it’s not on a pencil (but really, this is better). Reverie also includes Adina, Reece, Happi, Gwin, and Lana.

Giveaway: Kiss Nail Basket CLOSED

So Valentine’s Day is over and you’re still rocking an expensive manicure. Your nails look amazing, you feel glamorous… And if you keep it up, you’re gonna be broke. I used to get gorgeous artificial gel nails at the salon twice a month, and it cost between $40 and $50. After a few months, the nails started to break frequently and the filling process hurt. So not fun, and not particularly sexy, either.

I stopped getting fills when I realized that I could be putting that money to use in so many better ways. The savings? About $500 a year. FIVE. HUNDRED. DOLLARS.

Right now, I have an amazing set of durable, gorgeous, realistic looking nails. They fit perfectly, are a convenient length (one that’s manageable and sexy at the same time)… and they’re inexpensive. So what’s my secret? I’m currently sporting a set of Kiss Everlasting French Nails!

Kiss sent me two packages of their Everlasting French Nails (in Real Short and Medium), as well as a few files. At first, while excited, I was wary of a manicure that glues on. I had press on nails in seventh grade and they constantly popped off, caught on things, broke… They were a disaster and an embarrassment. So I still had those memories floating in my mind when I started putting these babies on.

The application process is super simple – swipe your nails with polish remover, rinse, squeeze on some glue and press on the appropriate size nail. The whole thing took under five minutes. I’m not actually crazy about French manicures, so I painted mine – which is very easy because polish dries faster on these nails than my own. I used one of the new shades from Zoya Reverie and glammed it up with hot pink glitter polish. Nobody’s been able to tell they’re not my real nails.

Kiss has a wide selection of Artificial nails, ranging from plain to highly decorated. Most are around $5.99 and last for about a week. That’s about $24 a month, which is around half of what you’d pay in a salon. Plus you can stop and start them anytime you want without more fees, unlike artificial salon nails which require lengthy and costly application and removal processes.

I’ve been wearing mine for several days and I’ve only had to come off- and both times were my fault, when I caught them on hard items and yanked. The glue tube is tiny and discreet, so it’s easy to keep with you and it only takes seconds to repair the break!
