Trend To Try: Corsets

Corset tops are no longer just a piece of 19th century fashion history. They are back, and making a big impression by providing the much desired hour-glass figure look that only countless time in the gym and plastic surgery could create!

There are many different types of corsets. There are some things to consider before shopping for one. First of all – the boning of the corset. Some have a light-weight plastic boning. These are the most common now-a-days, and also the most economical. They are light-weight, and still can do a good job of creating the hour-glass figure, and pushing up the breasts for a sexy look. Then there are corsets with strong, steel boning. These are usually a lot pricier, running anywhere from $35 – $300. Some women wear them for “waist training”. As if you tighten up the laces as much as possible, and wear the corset consistently, it can have a shape shifting effect on the body. Besides the boning, there are “over-bust” corsets, which cover the breast area and are a full corset. Then there are under-bust corsets, which only cover the waist to act as “waist cinchers”. There are leather corsets, satin lined corsets, vinyl corsets.. Basically, just consider all the choices before making that purchase! For the place to go.. I have searched many websites. I find the best variety, and by far the best prices is a site called www.CorsetChick.com.

They also have many cool tutu, petticoat, Gothic, and Lolita skirts to match your corset and make a beautiful corset dress.

Holiday Fashion Guide- Teez-Her

I am in love with this company called Teez-Her. Why? Because they sell the most AMAZING slimming tanks and pants.

We love their tanks and pants. They are not only shapewear, but they are also clothes that actually have a purpose. And they do a great job of making you appear slimmer.

The Skinny Shaper tank  features a nylon/spandex panel, which extends all the way to the bottom hem, and features a hidden rubber gripper to prevent bunching and rolling (available in sizes Small – Extra Large). This tank is amazing! I have been wearing it beneath my clothing and it’s such a great layering tank!  Unlike most tanks this tank does not roll up or bunch. Instead it stays in place. AND it’s very comfortable! :)

As for the pants they too are very comfortable and feature an invisible tummy slimming panel to hold you in right where you need it! These easy-pull on pants are perfect for any figure and are great to wear.

You can find these products at Teez-Her website and at  Macy’s, Dillard’s, and various other boutiques nationwide.  You can find a retailer near you by using their Store Locator.

Skinny Tees is a company that sells t-shirts, camisoles, and tank tops that are designed to make you appear two sizes smaller AND not to roll up!  SO basically, you get a t-shirt/cami with a built in spandex, without the nasty spandex! Sounds great right?

Skinny Tees has shirts that are one size fits all- really- size 2 to 22, a huge selection of colors, styles, all at affordable prices! And a added bonus, these shirts make you look up to TWO sizes smaller! Made from 92% Nylon and 8% Spandex, this is a breathable, form fitting material. This material is stretchy, but the real difference is that it always goes back to its original size.

They have awesome products and they are perfect for fall as they can be used for layering peices, they can be worn by them selves, or with another shirt. Their products are perfect for fall because they act as shapewear without the shapewear!

Let me just say that these cami’s are very well made. They have yet to fall apart and I wear mine all the time! They are also super comfortable and are great to wear by themselves or to use as layering pieces. They fit me like a very comfortable glove! I want a Skinny Tee in every color!

I LOVE my Skinny Tee Camisoles! They are perfect for fall! Get your own tops at- skinnytees.com

I was sent a sample in exchange for this feature, but all opinions are mine.

Spandex In Clothing????

Have you ever wished that your clothing was made from spandex? Yes? Well fashion designer Renee Grenstein is the answer to your prayers! Renee is revolutionizing the world of basics and fashion pieces with her new line of clothing called Women With Control!

Comprised of basics and fashion pieces, the Women With Control line includes: leggings, cargo pants, bootcut pants, capris, dresses and tanks made of a combination of 86% cotton and 14% spandex. It is this increased amount of spandex in each individual garment that gives the supportive and controlled fit whereas most apparel on the market has only a mere 2-5% spandex, making the pieces unflatteringly hug the body rather than control one’s shape.

The original in shapewear supportive clothing, Women With Control, has set the bar as a complete lifestyle brand rather than focusing specifically on shapewear leggings as many similar brands have done and has expanded the line to include plus-size customers—the real woman. The line includes sizes XXS-XXXL to reach all customers no matter their size.

Renée’s Women With Control has exceeded expectations with major sell-throughs each time she has appeared on QVC and for her first appearance on QVC UK last week. In the two years since Women With Control launched, Renée has sold over 223,000 pairs of the original bootcut the line started with!

I’m totally excited about the new line from Women With Control! The clothes in the line are high quality and are totally awesome! I got a pair of pants from the line and they are super comfy! Plus, I love that they include a built in spandex! And I love that the clothing is true to size! They fit me perfectly!

What are you waiting for? Go check out the new line at: qvc.com/womenwithcontrol

A Solution To The Muffin Top!

I’m tall and slender and most tops don’t fit me. I mean they do, but when I put my arms up/bend down my pants/shirts rideup. What’s a gal to do? Enter JAKs! JAKs is a little band that looks like a camisole. It’s made of stretch lace, and is made to be worn over pants and under shirts. JAKS appear to be a lace camisole layered underneath a top but in fact, are the latest trend used to cover butt-crack and muffin tops.

My thoughts-

Does it work? Yes and no. I found that it didn’t stay in place and it was a little uncomfortable to wear. But did it keep my back from showing? Yes, it did. Would I wear this product all the time? No. I wouldn’t. Just when I’m wearing a shorter shirt…..

Anyhow, I think that it just depends on your body type whether or not the JAKs would work for you. I think it’s just my body type (I’m slender) so the small didn’t fit me right. Other, then that the JAKs would be great!

Avon Slim Wear Slimming Tanks – 2 for $29.99!

April 12th, 2010 by The Fashionable Gal

Y’all know how much I love shape wear and slimming clothing.  I love it even more when it’s stylish and attractive.  Avon’s Slimming Tanks fit the bill – AND are much cheaper than the competition!

I was sent their Slimming Tank for review, and have been just about wearing them out since then.  The “slimming” feature isn’t overly intense, but provide a nice bit of tummy tucking.  If you’re not close to having a flat stomach to begin with, they’re not going to suck you in enough to be flattering on their own.  I’ve been pairing mine with cardigans on chilly nights and flowy tops, buttoned part way, on warmer days.

“Exclusively at Avon. Get the skinny on slim wear, and change your shape without changing your lifestyle! We’ve combined cutting-edge fashions with the latest fabric innovations to create a revolutionary line of figure-enhancing clothing. The result…a slimmer more stylish you, instantly. Set of two sleeveless cotton tops with polyester/spandex panel to slim tummy. Red and Black. Machine wash and dry. Imported.”

The tops are available in Small – 2x.  Two for $29.99 is an amazing price, as a lot of shape wear pieces are at least that much on their own.  Now I just wish Avon would add more colors!  I’d love yellow, pink, or blue in particular – pretty summer colors!
