eShakti Review

Ever heard if eShakti? No? Well then you are TOTALLY missing out! eShakti is this amazing store that sells custom made clothing for women in sizes 0-to 26W. How COOL is that? Pretty cool I say!

Here’s the thing, I’m a semi curvy girl. I have a small bust, tiny waist, and then I have bigger hips. Therefore, clothes sometimes don’t fit me right. So I was super excited to review a dress from eShakti.

I chose the Wednesday Adam’s Market Dress. Let me just say, that the photo does NOT do the dress justice! This dress is beautiful. The colors are incredible, and thanks to eShakti the dress fits me PERFECTLY!

This beautiful dress features-

Embroidered and scalloped flowers detail the hem of a soft cotton knit dress with a contrast Peter Pan collar and puffed sleeves.

Slips on over head.

Wide V-neck.

Above elbow length sleeves.

Elasticized waist for a gathered skirt.

Knee length.

Cotton, jersey knit, light stretch, mid-weight.

Machine wash.

This dress is SO cute! I plan on pairing it with some tights and pumps and rock it at several holiday parties this fall! I’m so impressed with it!

My experience with eShakti? Nothing but amazing! They have WONDERFUL customer service and their products are SO well worth the money. They are SO helpful to work with and I’m in love with all their clothing! They have such a huge selection you are sure to find something that you love!

Day 3: Dressbarn’s Skye Puppy & New Website Launch

Well, at least one of my Christmas wishes has come true. Dressbarn has finally launched a website! Now I can shop their stylish selection without leaving the comfort of my own home. Actually, who am I kidding… I can shop without getting out of bed! Now that’s a Christmas miracle. Don’t get me wrong – I love hitting my local Dressbarn. However, “local” is about 45 minutes away and features a nightmare parking lot. Not their fault… They’re in a strip next to a giant grocery store that seems to be a favorite for the driving challenged.

Dressbarn generously sent me a gift card to check out their new site. As soon as I got the code I was all over it… Since the store’s holiday selection features a lot of sparkles and sequins, they’re my latest obsession. And for the record, sparkles and sequins are part of my every day where – not just holidays. I might have been a drag queen in a past life.

This Hologram Twin Set ($49.99) immediately caught my attention. I love that the pieces actually separate, so either piece can be paired with more demure items for occasions that don’t admire as much glitz – and then can be combined for a real wow factor. I wear the long sleeve top with jeans and a cute tee when I want a little flair. The tank is fabulous with slacks and a sweater, especially when I do up a few buttons and just show a little bit of pizazz.

This hot little number (Ruffled Hem Cocktail Dress, currently $30) is another one of my favorite holiday picks. For those of you who might erroneously think that Dressbarn isn’t young and fun, think again. Over the past few years they’ve revamped their offerings, so there are plenty of pieces that are fun and flirty without being trampy. That’s a big selling point for me, as I love glitz and glam but don’t need to show nipple and ass to complete the look. The prices are affordable, the quality is high, and now – the shipping is fast, too!

A Plus Sized Holiday Treat: Sequins

Glamour. Drama. Sex appeal. Fashion. These words that more often than not escaped us when shopping for that perfect holiday dress. However, they no longer hold true THIS year!

See, over the last few years, designers have been paying attention, and this holiday season, they do not disappoint. On trend fashions deliver plus size fashion for the Curvy.Confident.Chic. woman YOU are! The latest trend that has been adopted successfully into holiday wear is sequins.

No, not your grandmother’s sequins. Think cocktail dresses that skim the knee, sit off the shoulder, and drape over your curves! Think contemporary designers fashioning looks for the ever so fashion deprived plus size woman. Think, finally a designer who gets it- and these (all found at Bloomingdales) are those who do, from a glitz and glam edge:

Fashion to Figure: Bringing Fashion to the Figure

Fashion to Figure is a retailer that caters to fashionistas who wear sizes 12 to 26. They have several locations in New York and New Jersey (I plan on visiting them during BlogHer!) and an online boutique. In store, the staff includes FTF Stylists that help you peruse the racks, put outfits together, and even take care of companions who aren’t interested in shopping (like a boyfriend or child). Fashion to Figure is working to create a fun, exciting place to hang out a shop – one where limitations don’t exist because of size.

Recently, I was given the opportunity to check out a piece from FTF’s inventory. Normally, selecting review items is pretty easy for me, but FTF had such a great inventory that it took me a good half hour or so to pick out a single item. I was particularly attracted to the range of dresses, that featured a range of styles and cuts which I found very appealing.

After much deliberation, I settled on the Watercolor Jersey Tunic, which features an empire waist (my favorite style). It’s described by FTF as “a tropics-tinged palette of aqua and lavender abstract hibiscus flowers pop against a black background on this wrap-front tunic,” and retails for $34.

Honestly, I cannot put into words how much I love this dress. And yes – it’s described as a tunic, but it works perfectly as a light Spring dress. It’s SO comfortable, like wearing a long t-shirt. Even in super hot weather, this dress is light as air and keeps me from overheating. The pattern is gorgeous and the colors are even more vibrant in person.

The best part? The style is incredibly flattering. The light, body-skimming fabric covers problem areas and the v-neck definitely draws eyes upwards. One person who saw me in it said immediately, “You look like you’ve lost a lot of weight!” Ignoring the suggestion that I have a lot to lose, it was fabulous compliment and made me feel incredibly confident. I wore it to a cocktail party over the weekend and got many compliments as well.

I highly, highly recommend both the Watercolor Jersey Tunic, and Fashion to Figure in general! I can’t wait to visit one of their stores in August! Also, the site is frequently updated with new pieces, which makes it easy to stay on top of your wardrobe and accommodate the latest trends.
