Get Julie Bowen’s Look!

Julie Bowen looked lovely on the red carpet. And we wanted to share with you the breakdown of Votre Vu skincare that makeup artist Heather Currie used on Emmy winner Julie Bowen’s face for the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards.

“I started prepping Julie Bowen’s skin for the Emmys by applying the Luxe Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm from Votre Vu’s Duette, a hand cream/lip balm duo. I usually like to begin with lip balm when getting a celebrity ready for the red carpet to allow the moisture to really set in while I start on the rest of the face.

Then, I used Votre Vu Fleur Blanc Tonic for all skin types, swiping it over Julie’s skin to make sure that it was clean and ready for additional skincare.

I then used Votre Vu’s Attentive Sérum Delicat Pour Le Visage to nourish her skin and applied Votre Vu Tragic Magic Rescue Crème. The Tragic Magic gave a nice, subtle glow to Julie’s skin and is great for preventing any skin irritation or reactivity.

To finish Julie’s skincare prep and keep her eye area looking fresh, I applied Votre Vu Tout le Monde Antioxidant Eye Gelee to the eye contour.

After starting the makeup application with foundation, I began on the eye shadow, using Votre Vu’s Sweep Gentle Eye Makeup Remover to clean up any makeup that fell to the under eye area with a cotton swab.

When I finished Julie’s makeup, I applied a little of Votre Vu’s Luxee Yeux Eye Beauty Balm high on her cheekbones, just under the eyes, for a little bit of glow. I completed the look with a few spritzes of Votre Vu’s À Votre Santé Elixir Essentiel to set the makeup.

Before Julie left for the red carpet, I used Votre Vu’s Champagne Kisses Enhancing Lip Balm to enhance her lips prior to applying lip-gloss.”

Emmy winner Julianna Margulies Emmys hair with Leonor Greyl!

Since I just adored Julianna’s hair at the Emmy Awards, I thought that I would share with you all  hair stylist Matthew Monzon’s hair care breakdown, using Leonor Greyl products, for Emmy winner Julianna Margulies for the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards.

“For Julianna Margulies’ Emmys look, I wanted to mirror the glamour of her gorgeous Armani prive gown with an old Hollywood, Veronica Lake-inspired style. However, I still wanted Julianna to look modern, so I kept the style somewhat deconstructed.

I started with damp hair and worked Leonor Greyl’s Lait Luminescence Bi-Phase Detangling Milk through her hair, applying the product only from the mid-shaft down through the ends so as not to over-saturate it.

To create volume, I combed Leonor Greyl’s Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice through the hair with a wide-tooth comb and blow-dried it using a two-inch round brush. I made a deep side part on the left and then set the top portion of her hair in Velcro rollers for a little bit of extra oomph.

Then, I started to work on the back:

  • Making sure to spray Leonor Greyl Voluforme Styling Spray for Volume and Hold to each section before curling, I used a 1½ inch curling iron to barrel-curl the bottommost layer of Julianna’s hair in a uniform direction
  • I created another layer on top of that one, barrel-curling the sections but this time changing the direction of the curl from that of the first layer

I continued this pattern for remaining portion of the back of Julianna’s hair by creating layer on top of layer, maintaining the direction of the curl within one layer and switching to the opposite direction for the next. Alternating the direction of the curl between layers allowed the hair to fall into the wave that I was hoping to achieve.

After completing the back of Julianna’s hair, I removed the top half from the Velcro rollers and brushed through with a boar bristle brush, creating a soft wave with my fingers.

To complete the look, I finished with a spray of Leonor Greyl’s Laque Souple Light Styling Spray for hold.”

I’m totally going to rock this look sometime this fall, what about you? For more information about any of these products please visit this link.

The #1 Eyebrow Pencil!

We want to introduce you to the #1 eyebrow pencil in the world! The YBF eyebrow pencil!

Well-groomed and well-defined brows have the power to alter the appearance of your face significantly. You should comb your eye brows before applying eye brow pencil, and then ever so lightly comb them when you have completed. Use your eye brow pencil with feathery strokes. Blend carefully and remove any telltale marks.

Perfect pencil?

Hold a pencil vertically against the side of the nostril. The point at which the pencil crosses the brow is where the natural brow line should start. Lightly mark this spot with pencil. Don’t tweeze brows too far behind this line.

While keeping bottom of pencil stationary at base of nostril, slide the top slightly across the front of the eye. Stop at the outer edge of the iris. Where the pencil crosses the brow is where the arch should be. Lightly mark this spot.

Again, keeping bottom of pencil stationary at base of nostril, move pencil diagonally so that it extends past the outer corner of your eye. Lightly mark this spot. Your brow should not go past this point, or your eye will appear to droop. Use short, feathery strokes to fill in brows.

Often times we make the mistake of going too dark – no worries – don’t remove! Just apply a light dusting of Neutralizing Powder over the brows to soften until the shade is perfect for you. This also sets the brow.

Woman all over the world love these eyebrow pencils and over the past 14 years over 10 million have been sold to woman all over the world! Get your own here.

Summer Beauty Tips From Elizabeth Berkley!

Traveling can take a toll on your skin, and no girl wants to have yucky looking skin during the summer! So Elizabeth Berkley has a few go-to tips and products that will help you feel confident all summer long!

· Use sun block – my mom passed this advice along to me and I’m forever grateful I listened to it. And moisturize!

·Exercise – it not only helps you look great during bikini season, but lifts your mood and always give me a sense of accomplishment

· Relax – my nighttime regimen always starts with a relaxing bath with Epsom salts, vanilla oil and lavender bubble bath (even if I just have 10 minutes)

·Don’t go to bed with your makeup on – I typically use a good cleanser, toner and moisturizer on my face from Biologique Recherché, but if I am exhausted and have no time, I quickly swipe my face with a Proactiv Makeup Removing Cloth. Simple, fast and effective.

· Be a bargain beauty – my FAVE bargain beauty must-have is the Proactiv Refining Mask… it literally clears blemishes like nothing else I’ve tried. Sometimes I use it as a full face mask, other times as a t-zone treatment, or even as an overnight spot treatment for any blemishes. A lot of teen girls I work with love it too!

What are your summer beauty tips?

Elizabeth Berkley is traveling to schools across the country empowering girls with the message of self-esteem, and she also recently launched a New York Times bestselling book – Ask Elizabeth.

Recreate The Royal Wedding Look

May 3rd, 2011 by Belle

Everyone was wondering how Kate Middleton would look on her big day and (finally) the wait is over. Kate looked STUNNING, but natural on her big day. Celebrity make-up artist Jemma Kidd weighs in on how to recreate Kate’s look:

Get Kate’s radiant glow by using an illuminating base, try Jemma Kidd Make Up School Dewy Glow All-Over Radiance Crème in Ice Gold, under sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer.

Line the upper and lower lash lines with a soft brown eyeliner, use Jemma Kidd Make Up School Define Stay-Put Eyeliner in Earth, before applying a water-resistant, lengthening mascara for long, defined lashes.

Add a healthy but subtle flush to cheeks with Jemma Kidd Make Up School Rosy Glow Lip & Cheek Tint, making sure to blend well. Then finish the look with a slick of nude lipgloss, try Jemma Kidd Make Up School Hi-Shine Silk Touch Lipgloss in Rose for a barely-there look.

“The best wedding make-up is subtle and unobtrusive, yet reveals and enhances everything that’s most beautiful about a bride’s face. With Kate’s glowing skin, rosy cheeks and softly defined eyes, she mastered this natural make-up look. The most important thing is to choose products that are long-lasting and formulations that look good in daylight, artificial light and flash photography.”

So will you try Kate’s look? I just might! :)

The Hair from Haider Ackerman A/W 2011

The Look: ‘Hybrid Warriors’

The hair look for the Haider Ackerman A/W ’11 show in Paris was literally out of this world as Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Wella Professionals, created an army of warrior like models.  “The look is both outer worldly and chic.  Haider Ackerman creates clothes for the connoisseur, he is all about precision and perfection, not softness, and I wanted to create a look that was strong, chic and very rich” said Eugene Souleiman.

“I wanted the girls to look like a hybrid of nature, as if they were from another planet.  So I created a hair look that morphed with the clothing to become part of the total look, almost as if it wasn’t hair but a warrior’s helmet; part of their battle dress.  There is also a reptilian element to the hair, like the beautiful armor of an insect’s shell” added Eugene Souleiman.

Eugene worked with Josh Wood, Global Creative Director for Color, Wella Professionals, to create petrol and metallic hued hair pieces, which were perfectly matched to the clothes, and then added these to the front of the hair to give a subtle color effect at the front which led to a hit of color at the back of the head where the colored piece was ironed completely flat to resemble a razor sharp sabre, adding to the overall warrior effect.  “The colored hair pieces resembled the texture of satin, where the color has a sheen rather than a shine.  Our task was not only to create color that complemented the fabric but also color with an inner depth” commented Josh Wood.

This is definitely an eye-catching look! To get your own futuristic look follow these top tips:

Start with freshly washed and conditioned hair, and apply Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier to the hair and blow dry the hair in an upwards direction from the jaw line, away from the face, flattening the roots using a soft bristle round brush.

Create a inner circle parting on the crown of the head, around 25cm in diameter, leaving the remaining hairline loose. Tie the hair in the inner circle in to a tight ponytail and secure with elastic. Using a piece of round padding to the height of around 25cm, pull the ponytail through the centre of the padding and secure the padding in place using long hair pins. Part the pony tail in to four sections and tightly pull each section down over the padding and secure at the base with a hair pin then wrap the remaining hair around the base of the padding and again secure with hair pins.   Repeat for all four sections as this will hold the ‘padding bun’ in place securely.

Clip the loose front section of hair (just the section from eyebrow to eyebrow) out of the way.  Divide the remaining hair into three sections and pull each section up towards the top of the bun to create a ponytail and secure with elastic directly on the top of the bun.  Fold the remaining hair of the ponytail and secure against the front of the bun using hair pins.

If you are using a colored hair piece, unclip the front section of hair and glue in the colored piece (the hair piece must be straightened before putting in place).  If not, follow directions from now on… take the front section and brush through to ensure that it’s smooth and tie with an elastic at the top towards the back of the bun (this will cover the other ponytail elastic), make sure that you create tension as you pull the hair back, using Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray – sprayed directly on to a soft bristle brush to help hold in place and create a sleek finish.  Saturate the remaining ponytail with Wella Professionals Super Set Finishing Spray, then using straightening irons, pull through the hair slowly to create a solid ‘blade’ shape at the back of the head.  Then using a large blusher brush with Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray, brush over the head to get rid of any loose fly aways – the finished look should be absolutely smooth.

Would you dare to try out this look?

xox,

Andrea
