After a long winter Spring is finally here and with it comes beach season. I know that like most of you I personally am out of shape and I want my body back! So I thought that I would share these great tips from Kimberly Snyder, celebrity nutritionist and author of The Beauty Detox Solution. Stay away from these five foods to stay bikini ready all spring!
1. Fried chicken
Made from conventional chicken laden with hormones and antibiotics, covered with gluten-containing breading and chemicals like MSG and salt, and fried in cheap, rancid oils, fried chicken is high in calories, fat, and other chemicals that can make you sick. Skip it altogether. Please, please just never eat fried chicken.
2. Deep fried cheese sticks
Take cheese (loaded with fat, salt, hormones and antibiotics), bread it, and deep fry it. How does that even sound as if it might be “food”? Skip them and have some veggie sticks with hummus, instead.
3. Fish and chips
Many people select this as a “healthy” alternative in fast food, but it is anything but that. Fish serves as a sponge that mops up all of the toxic chemicals from the sea. Bread it in wheat flour (gluten) and fry it up, and you’re looking at an unhealthy meal. Avoid fish unless you know where it comes from, and opt for a salad instead.
4. Pepperoni pizza
Cheese and white flour combined with nitrosamine-containing salty processed meats, pizza is toxic and unhealthy. Why not try some brown rice or quinoa pasta with tomato sauce instead?
5. Nachos
Corn chips loaded with cheese, meat and beans and then dipped in sour cream? Really?? Dairy, hamburger, salt, and GMO corn are just a few of the health issues associated with this high fat, high calorie snack. Instead, have some vegetable sticks dipped in salsa.

I don’t know about you, but I know some people who are utter makeup-freaks. Of course, you could always buy them MORE makeup for Christmas and the new year, but what’s the fun in that?? That’s right, it’s no fun! However, I found the coolest gift idea for the makeup crazy gal in your life. Whether she’s your mom, friend, sister, or cousin, we have the perfect gift for her. It’s called the Make-Up-Matte.

The Make-Up-Matte™ is a mineral and powder work space and portable carryall for cosmetics that is ideal for busy women on-the-go.
All that you do is unfold the Make-Up-Matte™ and use at home on a vanity, at the gym, in the car or public bathroom – anywhere you apply your makeup. Not only does this unique product provide a clean work space, but it absorbs the mess you make when you apply makeup!
It features a series of interior pockets store brushes and other makeup items while keeping cosmetics organized. When rolled and secured with the handy elastic, the Make-Up-Matte™tucks easily inside a purse, gym bag or suitcase.

And the bonus? The adorable designs combined with a oh-so soft microfiber padding make it a great gift for your girlfriends this Christmas. Personally, I love the fact that it’s machine washable!
And that it’s made in the USA.
Is it worth buying? I think so. I really like this product and think it’s totally cool! It would make THE perfect gift for women and teenage girls alike.
And the best part? It’s only $18.89 on QVC.com for a limited time. They also have a ton of prints available to choose from.

The biggest fall trend in beauty is bigger bolder brows and the key to get the look is to not touch the brows. Thanks to Natalie Gee who is THE brow guru, we have some tips to share with you ladies!

- Let the brows grow in naturally and let them take on a shape of their own. (try this for at least 2-3 weeks). However, if that length of time seems too long (and you love to tweeze), consult with a brow specialist.
- - The more natural looking the brow, the closer you are to the seasons look. What you should aim for is anything thicker than what you currently have.
- -Don’t expect ultra bushy in days, that just won’t happen. The look calls for natural, bushy & thick, so you’ve got to start somewhere.
- -Once you’ve let them grow in for a couple of weeks, consult with a brow specialist. Make sure when you explain what you are looking for, they tell you what you want to hear. for example, listen for thick & natural instead of archy or thin.
- - Once you achieved the fuller brow, maintenance can be simple. Brow pencils or shadows are a perfect tool for filling in any patches or giving your brow a darker hue. (the other trend along with thicker brows, is darker brows as well).
I love brow pencils with a brow brush on the other end because you can always blend the color easily if you pencil in too heavy or dark. What about you? Are you willing to try Natalie’s tips?

Doing your hair can be…well, so boring! But thanks to Conair, they are spicing things up with their Conair Xtreme Instant Heat Multisized Rollers! I got a chance to try these rollers out and they are AMAZING! But first, a little more about the product…..
Conair Xtreme Instant Heat Multisized Hot Rollers are fully heated and ready to use in 75 seconds, and every fashionable gal should have a set of these!
The set includes 20 ceramic multi-sized rollers: 8 jumbo rollers, 6 large rollers, and 6 medium rollers and 20 lightweight heated clips. The clips and rollers are both heated for extra hold and infused with ceramic technology for better heat transfer and longer-lasting curls.
Each pink roller has a ready dot to let you know when they’re heated and have stay-cool end rings to protect your fingers while styling.
Do they create curls? You bet they do! The curls are perfect and look amazing every time! Although they work better on shorter hair then long hair.
I was really impressed with the quality of these rollers as well as how well they work. They are VERY well made and I am so happy with them!!!

We’ve always known that the use of cosmetics help us to look and feel good, but did you know that cosmetics can also impact how people judge your personality and abilities?
COVERGIRL Cosmetics teamed up with lead investigator Nancy Etcoff, PhD.,(a professor at Harvard) to answer these questions – what impact does makeup have beyond attractiveness? How does makeup impact the perception of your competence, likability and trustworthiness?
The results of the study have shown that makeup application specifically impacts judgments of attractiveness and character when viewed rapidly or for unlimited amounts of time.

This knowledge can be powerful for women:
o Women can use makeup and color to control the messages they want to send about themselves
o It proves that through careful choice of makeup application and color combination, women can not only beautify but significantly change the way the world sees them
o It impacts the first impression, particularly how warm and approachable we’re considered by others
o The makeup look a woman chooses is fully within her control. She doesn’t have to be born looking a certain way

COVERGIRL’s collaboration with Dr. Etcoff allows the Brand to create ground-breaking color products backed by real science. This could lead to new color palettes and finishes or it could impact how we organize their color collections for women.
Want to change the way you are perceived today? Try a bold lip or flirty lashes with COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipcolor and LashPerfection.

Traveling can take a toll on your skin, and no girl wants to have yucky looking skin during the summer! So Elizabeth Berkley has a few go-to tips and products that will help you feel confident all summer long!
· Use sun block – my mom passed this advice along to me and I’m forever grateful I listened to it. And moisturize!
·Exercise – it not only helps you look great during bikini season, but lifts your mood and always give me a sense of accomplishment
· Relax – my nighttime regimen always starts with a relaxing bath with Epsom salts, vanilla oil and lavender bubble bath (even if I just have 10 minutes)
·Don’t go to bed with your makeup on – I typically use a good cleanser, toner and moisturizer on my face from Biologique Recherché, but if I am exhausted and have no time, I quickly swipe my face with a Proactiv Makeup Removing Cloth. Simple, fast and effective.
· Be a bargain beauty – my FAVE bargain beauty must-have is the Proactiv Refining Mask… it literally clears blemishes like nothing else I’ve tried. Sometimes I use it as a full face mask, other times as a t-zone treatment, or even as an overnight spot treatment for any blemishes. A lot of teen girls I work with love it too!
What are your summer beauty tips?
Elizabeth Berkley is traveling to schools across the country empowering girls with the message of self-esteem, and she also recently launched a New York Times bestselling book – Ask Elizabeth.

From shapewear to hairstyles to shoes, there are many “tricks” and secrets to look slimmer and younger without plastic surgery or losing a lot of weight. Professional makeup artist Susmta Patel and a graduate of the legendary Joe Blasco School of Makeup Artistry, shares her simple and quick makeup tricks that will make you look 10 years younger.

(1). Lighten up. Tinted moisturizers with luminescent particles or lightweight liquid foundations are best for lined skin. Unlike pressed powder, which settles into wrinkles and makes the skin look even older, a light-reflective liquid formula creates the illusion of a glowing complexion

(2) Blur the edges. As we age, perfectly drawn eyeliner starts looking more dour than dramatic. Rimming your lids with an eye pencil will define the eyes and seem to plump lashes, but always smudge the line a bit afterward for a more flattering, soft-focus effect. And while a lip liner is a great tool for shaping the mouth, use the liner to fill in the whole lip so there isn’t a hard edge.

(3). Go light on lip color. Dark colors can look harsh and accentuate age spots and other imperfections. A lip gloss – not too shiny – looks much fresher.

(4). Don’t be afraid of shimmer. Formulas have evolved so much in recent years that they’re not at all sparkly. They just have a very subtle, softening effect. According to Susmta, a dusting of shimmer shadow over the lids refracts light and brightens the eyes.

(5). Stick to creamy blushes and shadows. Older skin usually means dry skin, so creamy blushes and shadows are your best bet. Also, powder blushes and shadows tend to settle into your fine lines and wrinkles, while creamier products “plump” up your skin.

(6) Don’t Go Skinny on the Eyebrows. Don’t start going crazy when tweezing your brows, the higher the arch doesn’t mean more years are taken away. Once you hit your 30s, you’ll want to be careful not to over-pluck your eyebrows since brows are less apt to grow back if you excessively pluck.
ABOUT SUSMTA PATEL

Susmta Patel is a multiple threat in the beauty industry as a licensed makeup artist, aesthetician, nail technician, hairstylist and waxing expert. Susmta was born in India and came to the US at the age of 20. This single mother wasted no time in diving head first into her passion for personal aesthetic services. As she says, “nothing makes me happier than the priceless smile of approval. This recognition motivates me to continue my pursuit of excellence.”
