SWAK: Skinny Jeans for Plus Sizes

Okay, so I’m guessing that “skinny jeans” and “plus size” are two phrases you’ve mentally kept at odds with each other. However, the Mirabelle Skinny Jeans from SWAK are totally shaking things up right about now. I’m wearing the pair in the picture right now, and I am so in love with them!!!

Not even considering the style or color, they are hands-down the most comfortable pair of jeans I have ever owned. The denim is incredibly soft and stretchy, which makes it feel more like I’m wearing my favorite pair of lounge pants.

As for the fit… They’re actually really flattering! I’m not kidding; if I didn’t think that looked at least decent, I so wouldn’t be wearing them out of my apartment. However, the streamlined fit and almost black shade is totally figure-flattering. While they may not be making the lumps and bumps disappear, the Mirabelle’s are totally gliding over them.

Things do get a little uncomfortable, though. The white pair of Mirabelle’s (at left) came in the same package, and I was totally excited to pair them with all my cute Spring tops. For whatever reason, though, even though the two pairs are the SAME brand, size, style, etc.-the white pair don’t fit at all! Okay, well, they don’t fit me. My more than slightly awkward boyfriend absconded with them immediately and has been wearing them ever since. Out of the house and everything (om my god, why?).

So basically, I have no idea what to say about the sizing. The style also comes in grey and light blue, but I don’t know if they’ll fit like the dark blue or the white. I wear the size 14/16 pair by the way, and normally wear a 14 in jeans (for now!!!). I’d say the 14/16 pair definitely fit like a 14 (except the white pair, which fit like a 12 or 10), so if you’re the higher size in each pairing, you might want to order up. I understand the whole “skinny jeans fit tight” thing, but it SWAK is having a problem with the whole “FIT” part of the deal. I don’t know; I’m probably just cranky that my boyfriend looks better (or, um, weirder?) in my pants than I do.

Oh, also in the weird category for these pants: price varies by color. The dark blue/white pairs are $46.99. The grey pair is $49.99. The medium blue pair is $51.99. Seriously, don’t ask me. I have no idea.

Annnd, my outfit recommendation? Well, remember when I posted about how much I love the men’s undershirts from Hanes? Well, I’m wearing the dark Mirabelle’s with one of the white v-neck undershirts, a pair of black wedges, and a black leather hobo bag from Handbag Heaven that I can’t find on the site anymore. I think the slightly less fitted tee keeps the look from being too tight (AKA skanky) and the heels flatter my butt.
