Geek Can Be Chic!
My boyfriend is an avid gamer, and all-around “geek.” While his obscure-game referencing shirts my not exactly be fashionable, he certainly has tipped me off to some places where style can be found.
Think Geek is one of our favorite websites, but for very different reasons. I got their monthly update a few days ago, and finally had time to browse it. Immediately, found all sorts of neat products that would make great gifts! The strange caplet-container-cloth trio pictured is one of the first things that caught my eye. It’s the Japanese Pill Towel and for $7.99, it would make an awesome stocking stuffer or little gift. Basically, you just add water to the caplet and it becomes a multipurpose 11″x9″ towel. You get ten in a tube-how cool!
Here’s another geek-approved gift. This is the Crystal Cube Firejewel necklace ($24.99), and it’s positively radiant!
“It’s a solitaire necklace with a single AB-coated* 10 mm Swarovski crystal as its focal point. Inside that crystal is a tiny LED. The 17″ neckwire which creates that hip, floating “illusion” look is also functional. It carries the current from the clasp, inside which is housed one, small, easy-to-replace, 3-volt battery. When you close the clasp, it creates a circuit and voila. You glow. Each necklace comes in a small gift box. Choose between a white, blue, or pink LED. Battery included.
* We took this opportunity to look up finally what “AB-coated” means, and it’s pretty cool so we thought you might like to know. It stands for Aurora Borealis, so named for the changing colors reflected in the result. That unique, iridized look is achieved by blasting the crystal in a vacuum chamber with a vapor of metal atoms. Neat, eh?”
And finally, the hilarious alternative to traditional gifts of naughty-Santa themed lingerie. These HTTP Panties are $7.99 a pair… and I really think that’s all I need to say!
