Baggy Clothes Make You Look Fat

This may seem obvious – in fact, it may just be obvious:  baggy clothes make you look fat.  So do overly tight clothes (WHAT is with the skinny girls wearing too skinny jeans and having muffin tops).  But that’s not what we’re discussing right now.

Spring & Summer bring an onslaught of light, flowy, loose tops.  Everyone begins to celebrate being let out of their stuffy, restricting winter clothes.  Tunic tops seem to be a constant Spring wardrobe contestant, along with gypsy-esque dresses, and a million things with a billion layers.

When clothes fit loosely, one tends to feel thin.  It’s like when you’re loosing weight and suddenly realize your pants are falling off in public – you realize you’re smaller and feel slender and sexy.  Except with these Spring styles that are supposed to fit loosely, you don’t buy a next size – you keep rocking the whole tablecloth, imagining that you look skinny.  For us bigger girls…  That’s just not the case.  In fact, it’s not even the case for a lot of fit women who just don’t feature model proportions.

So, I’ll say it again.  Baggy clothes make you look fat.  That doesn’t mean that you should wear clothes so tight it looks like you’ve been dipped in liquid latex.  As hard as it may be, you need to find clothes that fit.  Loose material will exaggerate your size, tight clothing will reveal every flaw…  It’s all about balance.
