Facebook acquired their 200 millionth user today!!!

To celebrate Facebook invited 15 influential organizations, including TOMS Shoes, to create 2 unique virtual gifts that users purchase and send to their friends within the network. TOMS virtual gifts are a shoe from their Spring 2009 Collection and a shoe attached to a parachute, a playful reference to TOMS method of giving. Proceeds from these TOMS gifts will benefit Friends of TOMS, the non-profit partner of TOMS Shoes, Inc. In addition, users who send and receive a TOMS gift will get a $5 gift certificate redeemable at TOMS Shoes.

Over 1 million people in Ethiopia suffer from a debilitating disease called Podoconiosis: as a result of walking barefoot on silica rich soil, their feet and legs swell to a point where they are unable to work, walk, and often times become outcasts. TOMS hopes the gifts they are offering on Facebook will bring incredible awareness to the impact a pair of shoes can have in preventing sores, cuts, infections, and life-changing diseases like Podo.
